Nervous about vacation

For the 1st time in over 5 yrs, my husband and I are planning a vacation that we will be gone for 9 WHOLE DAYS!!! I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to take the dogs to a kennel this time. I have visited and it meets my approval, but I'm SO worried they will be stressed because we'll be gone for so long, that I'm seriously thinking of canceling. (which my husband won't be to happy about)

What should I do? Any advice of things I can do to ease my mind?:o

Don't cancel- have a vacation! If it is a good kennel, I'm sure you have researched it, don't worry. I got upset the two times we had to leave Sandstorm in a kennel. He did fine.
 
I know how you feel!
My fiance set up a vacation to Fl in October and I'm dredding it!
It's a catch 22 in every sense. If you do take them to a kennel make sure you are 100% comfortable with them! I am no longer invited to any and all family vacations, not because I moved out but because my mom's yorkies love me the 3rd most ( after my mom and dad of course!) and if I go there is NO ONE who can handle them. Maybe try a house sitter who with email/text you updates and pictures.
My plan for my vacation is dropping Jigi off at her grandma's but i am still working on my fiance Michael to let me bring her.:lol:
 
Have you considered In home dog sitting, I used this last time we went because
of the cost of kenneling 3 dogs Vs having the sitter come in. The dogs were happy, I was happy and I think it was a much better for everyone all around.
I rarely kennel now for anything longer then 2 days.
 
I would be a wreak if I had to leave mine for 10 days of course the last time we did leave any of ours they were with my parents or my parents stayed at our house but that is not a possiblily any more.
If I had to leave them I would leave them with a friend or have some one come to the house.
I have a freind that has some one come to the house and pays them extra to stay all the time not just come and go. To me that would keep the dogs happier, on their turf and routine.
Of course what ever I did they people would have to understand that I will be calling them and often.
I think it is important for us to get away and have some fun-plus they are so over the top happy to see us.
