Hi, I am Summer's mom. For many years I have been on the sheltie-list forum but it is not very active anymore so I am delighted to have found a new place to chat about shelties.
Summer is my 7 year old sheltie, a sable and white. She was adopted from Louisiana sheltie rescue a few months after Katrina and we brought her to Athens, GA when we moved up here to get away from hurricanes and flooding.
She is my third sheltie. My first was Bonnie, a little girl that I had saved up my money to buy. She lived 12 years and was my constant companion. Then came Abby, the one I call my "heart dog". She died at 13 from kidney disease, the same month that Katrina hit our city. 6 months later we adopted Summer who was only 2 at the time and is a beautiful and intelligent sheltie. (aren't they all?) Summer was "top dog" in our house until we adopted a male cat who totally runs the place. Poor Summer has had to adapt to being second in command. (My husband and I are 3rd and 4th)
Look forward to learning about your shelties. :smile2:

Welcome to the forum. We look forward to hearing your sheltie stories. We adopted our Collie Tiara in Dec. 06 and our Sheltie Angel in Aug. 07. They both run the house. We are their house keepers and wouldn't have it any other way. :wink2:

Thanks for the welcome. I would be happy to post pix if I knew how! I am having trouble even finding my way through this forum. I am not real computer savvy although I spend a lot of time on the computer.

Funny story about Summer. Last night she went outside and began barking like crazy. I knew she had found some "creature" so went out to check. Sure enough, there on the ground was a very "dead" possum. Summer was barking and pawing at it....so I brought her in. Later on I took her out on a leash so she could not go bother the possum...and of course, it was gone. She was so puzzled. When a possum plays dead, it really looks dead! Fooled even the dog.
