Hello to all I have a new baby name Georgie she is 14 weeks now and acting like a toddler. I also ended up with a baby kitten 3 weeks younger who was syringe fed. They are good friends and joined my almost 3 year old Cat. Hayden is the kitten Boo is the adult. We lost my dog Smudgie of 15 years prior and as she was half Sheltie thought I would enjoy a Sheltie as the behaviors may be simiilar and I loved her to death. I have had a ball but man they keep me busy. I will add some photos when I get a chance but it is time for work. I did send in a question about what seems to me to be severe car sickness and I don't know what to try next. Hi to all and hope to met you all. Have a great day check in tonight

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the "little ones". Kittens and puppies make for hilarious pictures and stories...looking forward to seeing/hearing them . Some puppies do better with just a little food in their bellies but then some do better with an empty stomach. There are ginger treats that settle the stomach and work for some and there is Cerenia, a presciption drug that works very well.You will need to see your vet for this. Sometimes this gets pups over the hump til they "outgrow" car sickness.

Glad to hear everyone is getting along and that they are keeping you on your toes...lol.
Regarding car sickness, not sure what to say. Our Bentley used to get sick even on short rides until we started weekly agility lessons (hence 1-2 times week car rides) and now he is much better. On the flip side, our beloved Sassafras got sick on most trips until the very end.
Can try giving your pup a Tums about 15 minutes before you head out. Is she buckled in? If not, she should be for safety reasons and it will also help stop her from swaying in the car when you turn corners.

As far as car-sickness goes, my advice would be to take your pup for short rides to someplace fun, the more often the better. A crate is good for travel too since it keeps the dog safe and you can put towels in if the dog heaves.

and oh how I adore cats and Shelties together!!

As far as car sickness goes it seems to be fairly common amongst Shelties that I heard of!? Especially when they are young.
Toffee outgrew his especially after I used Cerennia for a very short time for longer drives, and Jasper Michele's dog (mbfrench on here) did too, last I heard. He used to get violently ill before they even gt out of the driveway in the beginning.
Poor dears!
Make sure you take small trips or even just getting in car, reward and take them out again without leaving to ensure it's not anxiety on top of true motion sickness. When Toffee was younger I just had lots of towels and just old rags handy and blankets covering the seat. Easy enough to wash... and didn't make any big deal out of it so the dog wasn't going to get anxious since it really isn't their fault.
