Hi, My name is Judy. I just became a member today. I am so exited with this site. I have an 11 month old sheltie. His name is cody. I've had 6 shelties since I was a child. I love EVERYTHING about shelties. I got Cody from a private breeder in Illinois. I can't wait to put some pictures of Cody on this web site. My only problem with Cody is he like to bite/play my hands. If anyone has any suggestions on how to stop him from biting---please respond.

Welcome! Can't wait to see pics of Cody!

The yelping when bitten may help. Alas, it didn't seem to make much of a difference with Lerwick when he was in his puppy play-bite phase. If the yelping doesn't work, then I would suggest abruptly ending the play session. Yelping and abruptly ignoring the puppy helped somewhat for us, but in the end it was just something that lessened gradually as he got older. Thank goodness! Those puppy teeth sure hurt.

Good luck!

Welcome Judy. Sheltie pups do love to play bite. Looks like you've already received good advice. Luckily, this will pass as she grows older and gets her adult teeth.

BTW...We had a Cody too. She was part of our first Sheltie trio.

Welcome to the forum!

We would love to see pictures of Cody :)

And I agree with the others--a loud yelp and then turn your back on him letting him know that biting=play time is over. Good luck!
