new sheltie owner

Welcome to the Forum. It must have been difficult and frightening to have Jake be sick when you brought him home. And what a relief to know he's recovered and is acting like a dog again. This is a great Forum and is the right place to come either asking advice, giving advice and, of course, posting photos.

Jake is a very lucky boy to have found you. Welcome -- we'll all help you raise him to be a happy, loving Sheltie. I can tell you have such a kind heart! :biggrin2:

Wellcome to the forum. It is good thing that Jake have you, I might not be as nice as you are . Losing my temperament several times during the first few weeks.

Congratulations on your new puppy! :biggrin2:
However, Petland was probably not a wise choice on where to buy your puppy. There are many quality breeders out there to choose from who do genetic testing on their dogs, and make sure to sell happy, healthy puppies. The people selling to pet stores are breeding strictly for money, not because they care about improving the breed, or about genetic testing, or, really, the health of the animals sold.

Nice to meet you!

Hello! I'm new too and this is my first puppy and Sheltie! She is a lot of fun and has as much energy as I do. Perfect companion for runners :) I hope you enjoy your new buddy! I really like this forum, so far I've recieved really helpful advice from the nice people on here. I'm sure you will too

Welcome nykkchick and Klara: This is a wonderful place with great people and highly addictive, but definitely worth it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!!

updating

omg i love this little boy so much! he is doing amazingly better. the meds have worked and he is so happy and has so much energy. potty training is still a pain. sometimes i think he gets it sometimes he doesnt. patience is still being learned ugh! its been hard though cuz i work at home, and have had to find a schedule for him. im still using the laundry basket on and off for kennel training, it works at night. i noticed that he will bark and cry if he has to potty when he is in the kennel thing.

i did catch him squatting and put him outside, i caught him pooping and i yelled at him and told him no potty outside. and put his nose by it and put him and his poop outside.

he is a little sweety and is actually in my lap right now. im actually working too but call volume is down. so i can get away with it. he likes car trips. i really cant wait to summer, so i can be outside with him and take him on walks. im so glad i got him out of petland. they have paid for almost all of the bills other then the $43 vet visit to my vet.

i think its been 2 weeks that i had him, so he is just of 3 months old.

thanks guys!
