Hello to everyone with two or four legs,

As a kid I had all kinds of wonderful dogs to grow up with and love but met my first Sheltie as an adult. My friend from work had a sweet wonderful boy named Odie. When she and her husband went on vacation Odie came to our house for Doggy VayKay. We always missed him when he went home.

We started looking at rescues and going to meet pups at breeders. We were chosen by the girl of our dreams. She was my best girlfriend for 13 years. It is still over a year later hard to live without her. I did not want another dog. None could ever replace her, but my husband a I missed the door greeting, toy squeaking and getting down on the floor and just playing. Laughing and playing is like the Fountain of Youth. Dogs give us so much more then we can ever give them.

Now we have a super fun boy named Buddy to play with. He was born on 12-25-09. He is Buddy our Christmas Elf. Like Buddy from the movie Elf "Smiling is is favorite." He is soooooooooooo happy all the time. His hobbies include Disc catching, tug-o-war and snow eating.

Thank you to everyone here. After I got through the time of avoiding anything dog related I started looking at your pictures and reading your stories. I learned to laugh while I cried. It helped me to heal and share my life again with another wonderful fuzzy.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your first sheltie.

I am happy to hear that Buddy has a special place in your heart now.

Welcome to the forum!

Thank you

Thank you Ashley for your kind words and the welcome.

The love that is so evident on this site for both humans and fuzzies helps me heal everyday.

Welcome to the forum. My first Shelties name was Buddy! He was my heart and got out when I was away overnight attending my sister's anniversary party. I never forgave my roommate and never got over the dispare of not knowing what happened to him. That was over 20 years ago and I still get sick just thinking about him. He was 3 than and that was the first night I ever left him.

Welcome to the forum! I'm so glad that you were able to open your home and heart to Buddy. I always tell my son you can never replace them since they are all their own and unique. But their is always room for the heart to grow and let another one in. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures with Buddy.

True love never leaves you.

I really believe that a Sheltie's love is true love and true love never leaves you.
He knows how you feel.

Thank you

Thank you for the welcome mbfrench, life with Buddy is full of happy stories.

Thank you furmom for the quote you tell your son. "The heart can grow" is an amazing true thing. To interpret the heart into words shows you have a gift.

Thanks,
Debbie
