Hi everyone
Well, I'm sitting in my living room surrounded by sixteen shelties! Yes 16! Barbara, my Co-Director, is currently in New York welcoming a brand new grand baby girl. She won't be home for another week. Angela, a foster mom, also has gone to Up State New York to visit her baby grand son! So I'm baby sitting for her dogs as well as the two dogs she is fostering for us. I'm "IT" for another week when it comes to taking care of shelties...There are more to come in to rescue but sadly the Lakeland Sheltie Spa and Retreat has a no vacancy sign for at least a week longer. The only ones that I will take are the ones that are in danger. Most of the ones waiting are owner surrender dogs so they are safe for now. We'll regroup and start taking them in as soon as these two vacationers come back home where they belong.
Now, when can I have a vacation....? Hmmm I'm thinking of a long trip on a nice sandy island sipping on a drink with an unbrella in it.. How does that sound?
I also have taken in a foundling kitten. The three litter mates were found along side a busy road five weeks ago. Their eyes weren't even open yet. Two young people from my church found them and took them home to nurse them. I took over their care when they were three weeks of age. Sadly little Riley an orange tabby didn't make it, but both of his brothers Gabe and Sparky are doing great. They are six weeks old now and eating canned cat food and using the litter box for potty. I will be keeping Sparky and Gabe has already been placed in a good home. I know, I need another animal like I need another hole in my head but he's so special and when one feeds by bottle and watches them grow into a sweet little ball of fur one just can't say no!
