so this past weekend we had a Nadac agility trial.
I have started all four shelties on learning 2o2o for the dogwalk- so nobody got entered in any contact classes this weekend.
on Friday, the brown dogs just did jumpers- and unfortunately for me, there weren't a lot of open jumpers dogs. so after Cranberry ran (a good run for him even if he didn't qualify), I had to put him in his crate and get Dixie out. her warmup was jogging to the ring to go straight in as she was the last dog in their class. I was having issues without a break between the dogs but she did not have any and had a beautiful run.
on Sat, I entered only Cran in Jumpers, then they were both in Weavers and Tunnelers. Cran had a great Tunnelers run and got his Elite Tunnelers title so they are both in Elite there until we stop running... Dixie also Qd in Tunnelers on Sat. Cran had some issues in Weavers on Sat but Dixie Qd. Then on Sunday, Cran Qd in Weavers and Dixie popped out at the very last pole. she took three tries to get her weaves and she's usually not that off with them- could have been me though. with only four dogs in open weavers and two handlers, we alternated running so very little time between dogs for that class. I had to get someone to hold Dixie because I would not have had enough time to get her out of the crate and to the ring. In Tunnelers, Dix was over time because she came out of the yellow tunnel and I had to send her back in. All three dogs had issues with that yellow tunnel. Three dogs- yes, this weekend was Jocu's agility debut. He ran in Novice Jumpers on Sat and did really well for not having been in an agility class, for never jumping a whole course and for not getting much practice in the last 6 months or so. He was over time in Tunnelers on Sunday because he did exactly what Dixie did. Cran actually did not go into that tunnel at first but when he did he was still fast enough to make time and qualify.
Dixie was the only one to run in Jumpers on Sun and she had a little tunnel suck issue in that run

ribbon pix to come....

Glad to see I am not the only nutty person who runs themselves ragged on weekends:biggrin2:

There were some really nice runs in there. Wish we had tunneler classes, looks such fun! But I'm happy we don't have weavers.

Dixie ran so well for you, really fast and focused. Must be hard having both dogs in the same class.

Cran does the same thing as Merlin, sometimes runs around the jump. If you ever figure out why that happens let me know, because I haven't figured it out with Merlin yet!

Jocu did really well, bless him, I think he wanted to practice his European Round the Backs in his Jumpers:wink2: He's going to be a little star. How old is he now?

well, they offer 6 classes a day- we usually only enter 3 of those at the max. there are people who do all 6 classes...... we won't be doing that any time soon.

we love tunnelers- the dogs love tunnelers- it is the most fun class ever:yes:
Weavers- well the brown dogs are pretty good at weaves and we want to get better so it's a good way to get more weaving in. Novice weavers only has 6 poles (2 sets), open has one set of 6 and one set of 12, elite has two sets of 12. we should be in elite by this time next year.....:fl

yes, it's hard to run two dogs in the same class. Jumpers was the only class that we did on Friday so they were both in there and it was hard to run them so close together. on the other hand, Dixie has had some of her best runs when we've run straight from the crate to the ring.....
Weavers and Tunnelers- even though they are in the same class, there are no jumps so we can split them up better than when there are jumps. At these trials, the brown dogs are usually the only 16" regular dogs and sometimes the only 16" dogs at all.

Jocu will be 2 years old at the end of the month so there will soon be a birthday thread:winkgrin:
he's always had great focus- I should have been working with him on a more regular basis but with multiple dogs........somebody doesn't get the attention that they should. he's going to Destin's class now so I hope to get him ready for some AKC trials next year.

They look really good. I'm not looking forward to having Merlin and Sparrow both running next year. Hopefully Merlin will have progressed so we will be in different grades.

Lol, we are insane:lol:
