Now Theo is having issues....

I'm posting this video and would appreciate if anyone has any suggestions on what could be wrong with Theo. This is what Lily's episodes look like, but his was pretty severe this time. Lily has only had one mild one since January so we thought they were going away. Today I came home from the store (gone only 15minuteS) and Theo didn't greet me. I went over to him and he looked out of it and his head wobbled around. I noticed he had urinated on himself. He tried to walk and it was like his feet and brain weren't communicating. He's at the vet now. The vet said if it were seizures the symptoms wouldn't have lasted that long. We were going on over an hour and he still couldn't walk. Watch the video and please let me know if you have any suggestions. He's 9 months old, Sheltie/Poodle mix most likely. Most people say ear infection, which we will know soon since he's at the vet, but odd that he and his sister get these.

Ok....I've seen this before, but it likely won't apply to your situation.....

The first time I saw Bacca like this, I rushed him to emergency. I was convinced that he ingested a poison. He had his stomach pumped.

In fact, he had ingested poison. I have a teenage son living at home who liked to smoke pot. He left a bag of pot in his knapsack and Bacca got into it.

For Bacca it was like catnip to a cat. He loved the stuff, and could sniff if out of anywhere.

Fortunately, my son no longer smokes pot, so Bacca's addiction is now under control.

Seriously, though - pot or even cigarettes can have this effect.

I only put this out as a possibility,.

Ahh, poor baby... I hope you hear from your vet soon about a definitive answer. Because from here, I have to say it looks like both.

Ear infections, if signs were unnoticed thus untreated and progressed deeper in to the ear canal, it can indeed lead to dogs becoming dizzy and having poor balance and coordination.

However, Epilepsy/seizures, the aftermath of one, can also lead to uncoordinated motions, confusion, disorientation, bladder leak, unresponsiveness, and wobbly legs/tripping/falling/lying down (LOTS of other symptoms as well but I only mentioned the ones that you mention or I see your dog having in the video).

You say you were only gone for 15 minutes, yet a dog to have a seizure only needs about a minute or two on average and can still cause this much disorientation. I really hope its not seizures as ear infections sound easier to fix, please keep us updated on what you end up finding out. Praying for all the best <3 Hope my response sort of helped in some way

No, that was his sister, Lily, who we initially thought ate a cigarette outside. It turned out to be these episodes of whatever they are. The vet went ahead and gave him some charcoal b/c the symptoms are very similar to poisoning, but nothing in the vomit. Also I was with today from the time he woke up until the time it happened so I know nothing was ingested. The vets don't know. They say too young for seizures. Ears were fine and also ear infections wouldn't allow them to bounce back so quickly. He said if it was equaliberium problems he would be acting like that for days. He wants to test for liver shunt. But I feel like if it were liver shunt he would have bounced back after he threw up and got the toxins out. He's still wobbly. :(

I hate it when you're left diagnosis-less and left to not be able to do anything for your dog... It literally sounds like everything was ruled out. I hope something is figured out soon <3
