Our little gem..Jasper

Whiskey will be 16 weeks old tomorrow. He was almost 10lb a little less than a week ago, so probably right around 10lb now.

How old is Jasper? They look pretty similar in size, just looks like Whiskey's losing a little more of his fuzz first.

He is 14 weeks, and weighs 8lb.6ounces. Measured him last week, and I believe if my memory serves me 9". I would have to go back & check again. But he has grown even since last week, either that or his longer length is decieving me.

Trapp's undercoat is like really thick cotton, and the longer hair is just tipped with black & sable. But his undercoat is very light sand color.Should be interesting~~

Oh..the coat is a changin!

Well at 22 weeks, little super Jasper is changing it seems every day. Here are some closeups of his changing coat I took yesterday. Notice that ear..got to get busy today to re-glue.They have been un-done to rest a bit.

He has lots of really white areas, under his neck he is grey & white. So what do ya'll think a sable merle?

Enjoy

I don't know about the sable merle. I'm in no way an expert but he sure is a very light color. He is a cutie and growing much to fast. Love the wonky ears. They look just like Baxter's.

I LOVE him sooooooo much, Michele!!!! He is sooooo beautiful. I hope our new pupper is going to stay as light as Jasper!

Oh, Jasper is so beautiful!!!! I don't know anything about sable merle's but he does look very light. I love his coloring and his wonky ears! I would leave them!!!

I love his coloring. His mom is a sable Merle right? If she is then its deflnitely possible.

Bailey was very light at his age too and her black fur first came in as grey. I guess you'll have to see if his hair stays like That or darkens. It would be cool if he is a sable Merle!

I don't know Michelle. I've seen light sables look like that as puppies. Justice's half sister was that light as a baby. She is a golden Sable. No merles in the pedigree anywhere. Jasper's, light color looks like the undercoat. If your seeing different shades in the sable overcoat that's the key. He is really light though and could be. Do you see any patches of darker sable? I wish I had pictures of Pike as a baby. You could see different patches of brown color(3 dark gold patches amoung the light gold) and the tips of some of the guard hairs were white. Some areas had no white tips.

Here is Sunday the golden Sable

and Pike the Sable Merle-no merling on this side.:(

You can see the base color is really close as adults.
This is a picture of Pike's other side. You can see the merle spot(dark gold) on his side(just behind the shoulder) and his rump(by tail head). It was so much more obvious as a pup.
