Pedi-paws??

Hi....I was just wondering if any of you sheltie owners use pedi-paw?

The reason why I'm asking is becuase Mya hates it when I trim her nails. She wasn't bad in the beginning until I accidentally nicked a blood vessel. Now she just cringes when I come close with the clippers.

For those of you who use it...is it worth it?

I just don't want to buy something that I'm not sure of.

Here's the link of what pedi-paw is

Hi! :smile2:

I have used the pedipaw, but I personally prefer a real dremel (or similar), because the pedipaw is pretty "weak" in my opinion. I have an Oster brand, and I've never had an issue with it.
But I got two pedi-paws for Christmas year before last :eek2: lol, so I think the pedi-paws is great for getting dogs used to the concept... Especially with some of my skittish fosters. I've found that this is a lot less 'traumatic' for them than nail trimming, and I am able to get the nails a lot shorter, and smoother than just trimming alone.
I've also been able to get long, curled (neglected) foster's nails to get the quick recede from being let go so long. Here's two of my favorite links about dremels / how-tos :wink2:

Hope that helps! :biggrin2:

Hi,
I've used Pedi Paws for about a year now. It works quite well although I took the yellow cover thing off of it to completely expose the grinder. The nail is nice and smooth after! It doesn't make too loud of a noise. If your sheltie is only scared of the clippers and not of touching her feet altogether, it will be great. But if she is scared of people touching her feet you will still have a problem. You can buy replacement grinders at Petsmart so its easy to replace them.

The pedi-paws is a total joke. It hasn't got any power. For the $30.00 to 40.00 you spend on it, you can go to wal-mart and get a $20.00 battery powered dremel that works SOOO much better.

A real "Dremel" gets my vote 100% ;-).. Anything else is just a "wannabe" geared towards pet owners..just my opinion as I've tried both.

Pedi-Paws work great on my Snickers.... no need for heavy duty machinery for a sheltie... and I bought my Pedi-Paws at Dollar General for 10 bucks.
I am 100% pleased with it.

I was done Snickers in 5 minutes.

Pedipaws works OK, We use Both but as mentioned the dremel is stronger has more torque offers better speed control, but you have to be a bit more carefull as it can make the nail get pretty hot and can even burn the foot. quick short a couple of seconds at a time max back & forth between nails seems to work best for me with the dremal and avoids the burning issue.

Eh, waste of money. In my experience the motor isn't powerful enough to do an effective job on the nails without sitting there for hours. And I have followed the instructions and double-checked and all.
