Pedigree Dogs Exposed

Did I see in the collage of photos of the 10 breeds known to have hereditary problems a photo of a sheltie? Is this happening to shelties in Great Britain? In the U.S. and Canada? I sure hope not!

Rough Collies are one of the breeds identified as having high levels of inbreeding, so I think the picture was probably of a rough.

I watched the show last night, all I can say is wow!! I cant believe that the judge thought that those gsd's with the horrible legs are the correct interpitation of the standard And the woman that knowingly bred her cavalier with a genetic problem

At the UKC show I was at last week, there were 21 GSD only a couple were your typical "hock walkers" They stood out like sore thumbs as they wobbled up and down the ring. Bravo to the judges who did not put them up! I know at least 1 was a AKC CH.

That is one of the things I love about UKC! The GSD's are much more sound and more of the working type. I know their is one woman that even herds with her gsd!

I see some of those GSD hock walkers at UKC shows, and the judges won't put them up. If they're all hock walkers, and they must put *something* up, they are promptly dumped in group. That type of thing doesn't fly quite as easily in the UKC ring.
I'll tell you, some of the soundest GSDs I've seen are actually the Shiloh Shepherds. I run into them occassionally at IABCA shows, and they have always been much sounder structurally and when moving.
