photos of the disgusting wound & new photos of her

You mentioned she is now 7 weeks old - she hasn't received any 6 week vaccinations has she? (If it was mentioned yes or no in the history i didn't see it.)
The location and appearance would make me a little curious of a vaccine reaction slough if she had. -Dr. Mac

you now michele, im wondering if it is a bird bite that i just didnt notice until the blood dried and looked like dirt. But I have never left the macaw and the puppy unspervised, i caught him in the bin heard the puppy squeal ran over there got him out of the bin immediatly, and checked her and she was fine. im at a loss of words. but honeslty i would much rather have it my macaw bit her then a bot fly, today it looks much better, i have been giving her the amoxi and cleaning it out with iodine and water and using bacitracin. the thing that made me wonder is the 2 seperate smalll puncture wounds, this one has bit me before and i never got 2 seperate puncture wounds like that , and my forehead bled forever, but im really wondering. i found out what the problem with the bird and the puppy are, tony the male wants belles bin to nest in, i tried something last nigt, i put teh bin in the lilving room, for the birds, and took belle and she slept with me last night (no potty in the bed yeahhh!) i got up and the birds were in the bin, and tony bit me pretty good. with no bin, tony is super sweet to me.

so the bin potty training is no longer. i have a little crate for right now i can use that tony and skye will not fit in, and you know i tried a different basket, and tony didnt want it, and Belle jumped out of it, tried another bin, Tony didnt want it, its this one paticular one he wants. i know he is trying to nest and being viscious to me, with that stupid bin, when there is no bin, he doesnt bother the dogs, he might try to chase jake a little if jake is in his way, but has never bitten like that ever. first time i have ever had a male and female of the same species of macaw, didnt know i had a female and male for sure, no tests have proved that. guess i know now. I cant believe over night how much that wound has healed, i will have to get more photos..

Belle has no shots yet, my original plan was to wait til she was a little older and take her and jake in to get everything they can at once. i asked the vet and she said to wait til she is at least 8 weeks with her history of the seizuers she had. (hasnt had any now.)

she said at 8 weeks i can also get her on flea treatment and heart worm stuff, is that true? i know my friends puppy got on that stuff at about 12 weeks.

ok so as far as shots right now if this was your puppy who started with the seizure issues what would you do as far as shots? she is still on amoxi, which i will give her first dose soon, i just woke up and am stil trying to function. ill get photos of the wound and put them back up.

oh, so my vet had said puppy chow, so i got puppy chow and since she was on beneful before i mixed them together and she loved them, i added some holistic food in with the mixture, and both dogs are eating it. no diarrhea or bloody stool. should I stick with the puppy chow and add in some of the holistic like i was doing for her? my friend just bought the blue buffallo stuff, im sure she would share a cup with me to see how belle would tollerate it, but i dont want to keep changing right now with a healing wound and her on worming meds.

im going to post on a macaw forum too, to see if this is combination jealousy and sexual maturity. before i put the bin out to see, tony was all snuggled up with me and even put his head on my shoulder to cuddle.

Looking at the pictures they don't appear to be raised pimple like bumps like my friends dog had. I would definitely go back to a bird bite as the culprit. I would also stop changing her food I would find just one food and stick to it. She is too young for her system to keep going through all these food changes.

I agree it looks like some sort of bite and I also agree with Dawn that you need to STOP changing its food so much and stick with the holistic one. Purina is okay but the Beneful is crap but the holistic is way better. Which one are you using?

well i havent really totally changed it, i had her on the beneful all along since thats all i had in the house after i tossed out the ole roy then got the kd crap. so then i got the puppy chow like my vet said, i put in some beneful since she already was eating that, innova california small bites and some of the innova turkey canned food. she is eating but it a little bit at a time. i guess im just so worried i want her to eat all this food at one time, i guess maybe cuz im worried about the round worms she has. the vet found one egg. she has tolertated the puppy chow beneful mix very well. its funny though all i do different from jakes food is wet it with water, and he keeps stealing belles food, so i made the same mixture like i usually do with jake and wet it and he ate all his food at one time instead of nibbling. how funny is that.

her system is normal, amazingly after everything she has gone through, i dont want to go back to the innova puppy cuz it gave her a little bit of bloody stool. i guess right now im gonna get a bag of puppy chow again, im almost out of food other then some different samples from innova,. right now im more worried about making sure she gets the right nutrients since she has worms, though here is a worm question the vet found one egg, how does this worm thing work? does one egg hatch and let out a bunch of worms, then the worms lay eggs? i didnt go through this with jake since i got him older. though there is a difference of personality with jake vs. belle, as jake is darling and can be snuggly, but i cant snuggle with him for log periods of time, and he prefers men. belle clings to me, and will literally put her paws around my neck like she is hugging me which steals my heart.

well i feel awful that it appears that my macaw got her, and i dont have to weight to watch and pull a bot fly out, i dont think i could handle that. poor little girl, she is definitly a fighter and a surviver. cant believe she is just 7 weeks yesterday, seems like she should be months older now. least she is gaining weight. Everything is going to be ok, and thats one thing about me, i will not let an animal die, even if they end up on my porch pregnant or newborn under my porch i will help them and them get tem a home. (people must think something about me if they leave animals on my porch pregnant!) anyway. we gotta see what her colors are gonna be if there is some hidden blue in her, or if she is gonna be one goregous basic lighter black tri hehehe! im really glad i can come to this board and vent and cry and let it out cuz i just want my normal life back. i want to enjoy my puppy and my dog and my 2 birds, and want to put my mind set on my new training, and get this new unemployment debit card to get bills caught up. i dont think i can take much more. i broke into tears the last couple of days over everything that has happened. but honestly if i didnt have the theif roommate, i wouldnt have driven to MI to get Belle. so i guess everything happens for a reason, and just like i felt bad for tony the macaw that nobody wanted, who one could hardly touch i have gotten him when he isnt nesting with skye, to snuggle with me and put his head on my shoulder, i took skye from one step away from death to being a healthy 8 year old. and jake he was the easy one i felt bad for him in at petland and he just had kennel cough. i love these pets and they keep me alive when i have days like this when i just want to break down and cry. im determined, Belle is going to be one beautiful adult down the line that everyone is gonna stop me when im walking her in the park like i do jake and say omg what a beautiful dog you have!

ok thanks for letting me ramble the stress out. and for understanding.

Sounds like you are still jumping from food to food. Stick with one kind the Innova and pitch the rest. Don't let Jake eat the puppy food it is not good for adult dogs. I am sorry if I sound irritated but it is not good for the puppy to go from food to food. Ask your vet about the worms I am sure they can explain for you.

susan you dont sound irritated at all. you are just offering me the best advice for my puppy, you want her healthy and alive like i do. thank you. i just did that with jake so i could keep him out of Belles food, i didnt know it wasnt good for adult dogs.

This poor puppy needs her life simplified. :smile2: I don't object to switching up foods, my puppies have eaten kibble, canned, and raw all before 8 weeks old. But Puppy Chow and Beneful are pretty awful foods. Pick a good one, and go with it. Innova puppy is fine.

As to shots and pesticides. I would hold out as long as possible on the shots, maybe 10-12 weeks if you keep her outside exposure to a minimum. Then I would only do one, and then another at 18-20 weeks.

No puppy should be getting topical pesticides, especially one with a seizure history. HW "prevention" is not really "prevention", it's a pesticide. It kills a certain stage of heartworms that your indoor puppy is unlikely to have at this point. Wait on that as well.

Just let her little body deal with little things at a time, don't throw it all at her at once.
