So the little guy is 36 weeks old.
He has/had an undescended testicle.
So I knew his neuter could be a fishing expedition.
It was, the damn thing was in his abdomen (It could have been just behind which would have been great).
He has the typical neuter incisions, and then another one on his abdomen just above his penis (around 3 inches long).
They didn't do his surgery until 3PM, so when I picked him up at 5PM he was still pretty out of it.
He was there since 8AM, and apparently was quite the favorite, and he showed off his howling for them.
He had some issues with the cone (don't ask, I think it confused him) so we changed him into his little surgery suit. And I think I need to feed him more (he is tiny in that suit!)
He slept OK, if a bit restless at times. He just seems confused a lot. Getting him out to pee is a production as he stops to sniff everything and walks really slow (very NOT normal). I made a new water bowl for him and he started drinking (avoiding his other ones). He eats great, but we are doing small snacks.
I did submit it to trupanion. neuter is the only treatment for an undescended testicle (cryptorchidism) so I am hoping they cover it. My deductible is pretty high (for major stuff), but it seems like most insurance does cover this as long as it wasn't pre-existing (he was seen by vet at 3 months and insurance was bought at 4 months). Apparently, if the undescended testicle is inguinal (behind the scrotum) it might pop out f you wait (and is also a way easier neuter) but if its abdominal it never will. leaving it in the abdomen means increased risk of cancer and torsion
