Pippi's going gray...shes only 3

Hi all. I'm not sure if this is the right place but Pippi turned 3 in September and is going gray around her eyes and muzzle. Does anyone know if there is any reason for premature graying? Have a vet appt next week so I'll ask them then.

Well, I have never heard about this but she is about the cutest thing ever!

Considering she's just turned 3 is it possible that's just her adult coat colour coming in? She looks fairly light in colour, is it possible you can ask the breeder what is in the line...perhaps some Merle? My boy is going to be 3 in April and he's just getting his adult coat.

My thoughts were like Piper's mom, I do not associate it with gray, I see it as markings, in her beautiful face.

Many folks here may remember when Layla's ear tips went totally white. No explanation -- just Princess Snow Ears for a couple of years. Then *poof* back to normal. Shelties are a mystery.

Ally got weird gray hairs on the top of her head when she was five - I was totally puzzled. They were a different texture, too. They never went away. Your Pippi is adorable, so we'll just think of the "gray" as highlights!!!

Thanks all. On looking she does have some let me in her line so maybe that's it. She's is happy in herself and that's all that matters
