We got Olive at 8 weeks, and already she was interested in the play of light and shadow. She just turned one year old last week, and it has continued, and is far worse than it was when she was little. We have never played with her with flashlights/lasers. I am told that it is an obsessive compulsive issue. We are not allowing her to do it when possible. This has helped a little. I hope in time she will be able to completely control it herself, but right now she cannot. Yesterday I took her out first thing in the AM to potty ,and someone had left their post lantern on down the street. Once she spotted that, she could not keep her mind on pottying, even though she had gone all night with no accidents. There are other threads here on the same topic. From those, I would say this is not an uncommon problem in shelties.
Any ideas on how to get her to stop playing with the shadows?
