Puppy and frequent urination

I have a 5 mth old puppy that I just received last Tuesday (female). In the past 2-3 days I have noticed that she pees and then she will pee again and then maybe again within minutes. She has been having accidents as well, and has peed in her crate.

I'm wondering if she doesn't let it all out the first time maybe, out of being distracted. Or, could this be a bladder infection?

Does anyone know how dogs get bladder infections? She spent way too long in a crate travelling by plane (I figured it was a direct flight - it wasn't!), so of course had soiled the crate and had to sit in these moist dirty paper strips for hours probably. Wondering if that could have caused it...

The only times Howard peed excessively at that age was when there were lots of fun people around and he got too excited. Then he'd pee allll over the carpet in little patches.

Now he's 9 months, he pees a lot on walks but he's just doing his marking.

I'm no expert but I think you may be right, that bad crate experience made her not care about peeing in the crate so much? Although puppies do have weak bladders, at that age Howard could hold it for 8 hours overnight.

Just speaking from my experience of 1 pup. Hopefully someone else can give you a more definite answer!
 
She's probably just still frightened.

Just imagine being in a strange place ( the plane ) not knowing what the heck is going on. Now you are still a pup with not much bladder storage at this point and your all of a sudden feeling your ears popping or hurting and you have no one around you. You are now forced to soil your sleeping quarters and not willingly, probably due to fright!:eek2: Then you are sent off this big thing you've been stuck in for hours and frightened because no body seems to care and you just don't know what the heck is happening accept your whole world has become disoriented. Now A new loving family comes to get you. What's going on Where's my Mommy and daddy? New people to get use too. still uncertain if I'm staying and what happened to my mommy and daddy.:eek2: Getting the sense of how she feels yet?? Please be patient and have her checked by a vet to be certain she doesn't have a Urinary tract infection. She's going to need time to adjustto loving you now. Hugs to Roxanne and you!! She doesn't know that you are her new forever home yet!:wink2:
 
I agree with Elaine. My Chinook was shipped in cargo on a plane - direct flight. But still when he arrived, he was soiled, shaking like a leaf for hours after that. To this day, he is not a huge fan of a crate. So be patient with her. She'll come around, but have her checked. Dogs to get UTIs.
