puppy born

thank you everyone! I am so excited. and my parents are showing her off to everyone too. We decided that the mark on her bum is her cutie mark (my little pony anyone?) Now that we know her and when she is coming home we have to make all the arrangements for training, vet, accessories.... i'm excited to go shopping for her!

We are going again @ 6 weeks to see her, so there will be a lot more photos!
 
She is a cutie.

Don't be too suprised if that white spot on her rear disappears as she gets older. I have seen those little mismarks fade to just 2 or 3 hairs. OF course if they have one as big as my Ember it won't. But Ember's shrunk from 3/4 her bum to 1/2.
 
ya the breeder was also saying the little blaze she has now might get smaller, but she has a white flick on her nose which the mom also has so i'm hoping that one stays around :)

her little white spot is fairly small, the only marking i was defiantly interested in having is the white tipped tails. i just think those are so precious. but it seems all the black puppies had the white tipped tail so no worries there.

are slip leads recommended for puppies? i see how they could be useful in just slipping it on to go outside then removing it when coming in instead of taking a collar on and off when crating etc. or do they even come small enough to use for a puppy/does the tightening get too much for a little puppy neck?
 
Congratulations. Oooooh, is there anything cuter than a pile of Sheltie puppies?? Luna is cute and I detect a little gleam in her eye - she may be one spunky puppy. How did you end up picking her?

Haha the breeder was saying that shes not afraid to stand up to her (much) bigger brothers and sisters when they are bugging her too much. I'm okay with some spunk. as long as she cuddles. :D It could have also been the fact that we woke them up and picked the pups up immediately. and they were looking at us like "uhhhh i have to go pee please put me down." *raised eyebrow*

They were adorable. i wanted to watch them sleep all day. but unfortunately we had to go. *sigh*. The breeder was looking for show puppies in the litter, and there was only two options for pet puppies, Luna and a merle boy. I was just smitten with her immediately. I completely trust our breeder and her opinion on the puppy that would fit our lifestyle, we have talked a lot. So I truly think she wouldn't offer a puppy that wouldn't be suitable (too dominant etc.)
Since they were only 4 weeks, and playing was only about 10min long before naps, I am hoping that when we go @ 6 weeks her personality will shine through better while were there. I just knew she was my puppy, I can barely remember what the other pups looked like/acted like. haha.

I hope she felt the same!

we went and visited Luna again today, she was 6 weeks old yesterday. It was a lot better because we were outside with all the puppies playing and they were defiantly much more active then at 4 weeks. The breeder has some concerns with her and her size at the moment, she is quite a bit tinier then the other puppies right now, does anyone have experience with this? could this be a health issue or just a size thing? she played longer then the rest of the puppies and apparently eats heartily so she isn't showing any symptoms of malnutrition or weariness. i really hope its nothing because we have just melted with her :)

i am trying to get the videos of them all playing together up on photobucket. the program is just being a little slow...
 
Sometimes tiny puppies are just the way it goes with the litter, and they're fine and healthy and usually from what I've seen, real toughies with their littermates! Obviously they don't know they're tiny. I wouldn't worry about her size unless there are health issues. She may just end up being a smaller than normal Sheltie, but cuter than cute. I can see why you love her...she's adorable!

I second this. I had a little one with my last litter...I thought he was going to end up being really small as he was wayyy behind his littermates. He ended up being a spitfire who like his dam controls everything and ended up being bigger than we thought...he leveled out at about 14 1/2"...he just matured at a slower rate than the rest of the litter...
