Puppy lacking interest...

My old Sheltie never played with toys. She was so laidback and completely uninterested in running round playing crazily. After your pup has settled in, you might find it becomes more interested in playing with toys.

As for training, you will find that treats aren't the only way to train them. If they are given lots of praise and encouragement I think they are far more likely to become obedient - they're doing things because they want to and enjoy it as opposed to doing things because they are going to get a treat. When training just make sure to have a nice happy tone of voice and get really excited when they do something good, you'll get great results from it :smile2:
 
Had exact same problem with Tully - who now spends the evening pulling out every toy in the toy box.

Here is what the vet psych said to do:

Buy a special toy that is only hers. Give it to her for 1 min three times a day. Each day increase the amount by half to 1 minute so that by the end of 2 weeks she has the toy for 10 minutes. Never leave that toy lying around - it is her special toy. It is good if you can use a toy that she can chew and chase (chewing as a pup and chasing to play on her instinct) I got Tully a catnip mouse on a string (it was a cat toy but Tully was such a little pup).

Tully had a few issues as a pup (she was attacked) so getting her interested in toys was heaven sent and it allowed me to get her interested in balls so she would leave the yard
