Puppy with loose stools

My 12 week old Sheltie puppy, Denali, has runny stools since Sunday. They are greenish and mucousy. We thought we gave him some unacceptable treats over the weekend to cause this but I am concerned that it hasn't cleared. We gave given him 1/4 tsp of pepto bismol 4 times but it hasn't seemed to help. Other than the stools he still has his appetite & is playful.

He is scheduled to see the doctor on Thursday for his 2nd shot but I am wondering if i should try to get him seen sooner for this stool problem. Does this sound like somthing that will pass or that needs attention now.

Are there any other home remedies or food items that would help?

Thanks so much in advance.

Try adding canned pure pumpkin to his food (make sure it is pure pumpkin though). This usually helps with runny stools. If you feel you need to get him in before Thur, call your vet and explain what is happening.

Green and mucousy concern me. Check his gums to make sure they are pink and healthy and not sticky.

Food related cannon butt should self resolve in 24 hours. If it lasts longer than that (and food is ruled out) then it warrants a vet visit, especially in baby puppies that dehydrate easily.

Denali was healthy except the stools. I will get the fecal results tomorrow, but meanwhile I was prescribed a worm treatment. If not worms, it could be the small tastes of yougurt that I give him as maybe he doesn't tolerate dairy. I have added a little pumpkin & rice to his diet so hopefully this will pass soon. I need to post pics, I will try by the weekend. Thanks everyone.

Fingers crossed that Denali is on the mend!!

Chicken & rice with a bit of pumpkin always did the trick to clear up Miko's tummy problems when he was little.
