We rescued Penny and her son Knox about ten weeks ago-when he was just a week old. We've had Keylah since she was a pup, she is now 5, and Kingston is her son who will be turning a year old next monday the 9th
At 8 weeks old, Knox suffered his first round of cluster seizures. He had to go to the emergency vet for several doses of valium. Thankfully, after 6 hours they stopped and he was back to his normal crazy self. No toxins were found, and all of his blood work levels came back normal. Unfortunately, a few nights ago he suffered his second round of the cluster seizures. That meant another night at the emergency vet, with a follow up at his regular vet the next day. They decided to put him on Phenobarbital, diagnosing him with epilepsy (scary word) He is on his third day of the medication, very anxious, hungry and constantly pacing and whining. We are quite worried about his safety and quality of life due to the age of this becoming present- he's quite young.
Has anyone had experience with these types of seizures in their sheltie? It's very new to us, and also very scary for us..We just want to become as educated as possible to give our little guy the best life possible.
Now that you know about us, we look forward to learning more about all of you and hearing what everyone has to say!
Have a great day
