Puppy's foot turns

Dash's back foot turns when he walks. He steps forward and puts the paw down straight, but as he extends the leg back, the paw turns almost 90 degrees till it is pointing to the right just before he lifts it for the next step.

My vet took x-Rays and his bones look fine. Is this something that anyone has seen before?

I tried asking in the health section and got no responses. I apologize for bringing it up again here, but I really don't know what to do and would appreciate any suggestions that anyone might have.

No apology needed...I wish I had an answer to your concerns but I have not experienced what you are describing. Hopefully there will be someone who has and can give you helpful information/direction.

I don't know if this might be a normal part of your puppies growth and development, but if your vet has cleared Dash, I would call your breeder and discuss it with her. She will be able to tell you if this could be genetic or if there's something you can or should be doing. Good luck...I know how worrisome these things can be. Please keep us posted!

Do you have an orthopaedic vet in your area, or perhaps your vet can send the x-rays to an ortho vet/ university. He may have a form of dysplasia or malformed muscles/tendons, it's impossible to tell. An ortho vet is really your best bet.

I concur with Ann, contact the breeder immediately to discuss the issue. Maybe they have seen it before and have a keener awareness into the severity of this issue and how they have coped. They might have insight on where to get help and who has dealt with it successfully. I am in favor of keeping that relationship strong and interactive, because they need to be aware of it.

Hoping Dash gets the help he needs:yes:
