Red pimples on her tummy

Hello,
So i recently noticed that my puppy has been continuously licking her lower tummy area. There appears to be 3 little red spots that look like pimples with puss in that area. Could it be bug bites from when I let her outside, or is this something I should be more concerned about and have her be seen by a vet? I've been keeping an eye on them and they don't seem to be going away, but then again that could be because she keeps licking them? An advice would be appreciated. Thanks

How old is your pup? Has she had any Revolution/Interceptor/etc. oral or topical treatment for fleas, heartworm, etc. yet?

It could be flea bites. The sooner you get her on an annual treatment plan, the better, I think.

I don't know much about Washington state, but you also want to be on the lookout for ticks, too!
 
I don't know exactly where her bumps are, but I would try some OTC cortisone treatment on the bumps and wrap it with an athletic bandage, so she can't lick it. If that doesn't work after a few days, you might try the same with a triple antibiotic ointment. After that, I would definitely go to the Vet. Good Luck.
 
Crystal gave some good advice. It kind of sounds like hot spots due to her licking them. Do everything you can to keep her form licking them because she is not allowing them to heel. After all of that, I still think I would take her into the vet just to make sure you know what they are from so you can prevent it or treat it better in the future. Good luck and let us know what you find out!

I agree with Shaun, first if not certain always at least call the vets office to see if it's something to be concerned about. Then they'll tell you how to treat it. Best of luck and hope she's better soon!:wink2:
 
I'd try something topical like Polysporin if you haven't already and definitely TRY (I know its hard!) not to let her scratch, as it will make it worse.

If they don't start going away soon you may have to schedule a vet appointment
 
Wow Chris I thought i was the only one that had a dog allergic to grass.Our old dog Mollie. We did take her to the vet and thats what he told us. She had green (sorry) pussy pimples on her belly. We just couldn't let her out right after the grass was cut.
 
ok i will try the cortisone treatment and call her vet as well. I was thinking the same things, it could be allergies or bug bites. I haven't treated her for fleas/ticks, maybe i should get her on a plan. She is however up to date on all vaccines and worming ect. She is almost 5 months old and will be getting spayed in the next few weeks so i need to make sure she is healthy before they can do that. Thanks for all the great advice, i will keep you all posted on how this turns out.

Indy had a lot of trouble with a rashy belly at one time. We took him to the vet several times and they prescribed a cortisone spray with the vet saying that it was either a grass allergy or a flea allergy but most likely grass as there was no sign of fleas. Indy HATED the spray and cried as if it burned him. So........
I did the holistic medicine treatment and gave him a teaspoon of LOCAL honey every day. His belly cleared right up and I haven't had to do the treatment in many, many years. It has to be a local honey so that your dog builds up their immunity to the local pollens.
