Rehab for iliopsoas strain

One of my agiltiy instructors has had her dog out with an iliopsoas strain for about 6 weeks, now. Steeple is a 6 year old Border Collie and very successful agility competitor. He and Kim took 2nd place in Steeplechase at the 2010 Cynosports and first place in the 20" division at the 2009 AKC Invitational.

Kim posted some videos of his rehab that I thought some of you might be interesting in seeing.

Thanks for posting, the physio recommended for Steeple is very similar to the exercises I did with Sadie for her paralysis. Sadie does underwater treadmill work also.

yes, Snap had something with the iliopsoas.

Even though the injuries are different, I was wondering if some of the physio might be similar.

Also, I had forgotten that Snap went through a similar injury.

Kim is a great trainer and a wonderful instructor. Her dogs are her life. The second dog in the videos is Summit, her older BC who is now retired from competition. Summit just cracks me up the way she has to be right in on the action.

Yes, Snap had the same injury...and what memories this brings back of rehab.

It's ironic to see this thread today. I've just gotten home from Columbia and am delighted to report that Snap was released today (one year + later) by the rehab vet.

We will continue conditioning exercises forever, now that I realize how important they are.

I do some of those moves as warm up before agility class or just in the morning. I also got book on T touch massage and am learning to apply it with Che.
Che was not particularly loving his massage but we are getting used to it both, I think it is most profound experience we have together as he is not lappy dog and generally tolerates but does not enjoy petting.

Steeple's first agility trial post-injury

I thought that those of you who have dealt this injury or similar ones might be interested in seeing some video from Steeple and Kim's return to the agility field. Kim posted this video from the Good Dog USDAA trial in Arizona this past weekend. Her hard work and patience really paid off. Other than a small bobble at the table in one run, Steeple looked great!
