Remy the Destroyer!

48 pounds??? Oh my word. I thought Roxy’s 35 was a lot of sheltie!!

Have you tried the black Kong toys? They’re for super, power chewers. I wonder if those would hold up. I only now buy anything that at least claims to have some sort of bite guard liner. But I don’t know if that would help. You should design and sell Kevlar dog toys!:D

Yeah, we thought we were getting another 22lb, sweet, obedient, dainty, furball. Instead, we got a massive, crazy-eyed, always alert, hellion that needs a metal leash so he won't chew through it and refuses to walk in a straight line because he's looking at everything around him - and don't get me started on when cars drive by. I've had to remove all of our real and fake plants in the house (except the cacti that surround the bathtub), as well as the fireplace logs, etc. because he'll chew/eat them. If he is not seen for a few minutes by one of us, then he is in the bedroom chewing something he shouldn't be - toothbrush, hair brush, dishwashing cloth, shoe, hair ties, etc. The Bully Buddy is made from extremely hard plastic and he's gored it completely - it works fine, but it's ugly. We give him a new bully stick every 2-3 days and he shreds it. He really is the most destructive force I have ever heard of.

There are several "fire hose" material toys and other such "indestructible" toys out there. Remy laughs at those claims. One hour with ANY toy, and it will be ready for the garbage. We trim and try to increase the longevity of these items but once he's made a hole, it's just postponing the end for a very short time :)

We have a destroyer, but funny enough, Dollar store balls are a hit here. I think for play, having a ball a tad bigger than the mouth is a must and paying attention to the sturdiness of the plastic involved. You want something a bit thicker, but not too thick that it is heavy, uneasy to move around. We have a number of balls here from our store, 5 Below. Nice thing about buying here, if it pops, we aren't out much but if it works and he likes it, they are cheap and we get a few extra for when they need to be replaced. There are some rainbow colored balls which are great for pushing around the yard, about the size of a soccer ball. We also have these larger balls, not quite beach ball sized which are covered in a mesh that Brodie can get his teeth into but can't get his teeth into the ball unless it looses air. All cheap, made in China stuff so you never want them to play unattended, but so long as you watch the inflation, they are less easy to pop.

Brodie is BIG into Frisbee. We buy them from 5 Below as well. Store seems to have a decent supply of kids summer/pool toys in the summer that are inexpensive and work for us. Better source than Walmart for us and cheaper too.

This is the playground size ball my guys use--they can't pop it but its light enough to fly around the room. I bought what we callled a 4 square ball, red, heavy texture, but it was too heavy for my boys to move.
Benson would enjoy Treiball! Finnie is always trying to pick up his ball lol. Benson looks like a natural!

We knew Roxy was going to be oversized. And we were expecting 22# also. I’m truth I like her big. But those littler once’s are sure easier if you have to collect them up in a rush. I could just grab up Watson. Same with Piper.

My sister’s old large breed dog destroyed a toy last year and ended up eating the squeaker out of it and had to have surgery to get it out after induced vomiting didn’t bring it up and they couldn’t find it to fish it out so I am a bit on edge with toys even though Roxy isn’t a hardcore chewer, Piper looks to be. I’ve already noticed her chewing the end off a toy that I fished from her jaws. :arghh:

I might have missed how old Remy is. I know I mentioned the hardcore chewers black kong and I went back and saw you mentioned kongs earlier too. Do you think one of the bigger sizes extra stuffed and frozen would keep him occupied long enough trying to get the food out that it might scratch the chewing itch before he destroys it?
