Sad for neighbor's dog

So lately we've had the pleasure of listening to our neighbors fight. What bothers me most is hearing their dog cry and bark while we hear stomping and swearing. Tonight we finally confronted one of them about it and the way he just smirked at me as I threatened to call the police, makes me really glad that the puppy I'll be getting will always be safe inside my apartment or with me.

To be clear, as far as I know they are not hurting their dog at all, but it sure gets upset when the fights start (totally understandable). Not that emotionally hurting it is any less damaging than physically.

Just sucks to have to listen to it and not be able to do anything about it. But there is no doubt that the police will be called the next time I have to listen to that drama through the wall.
 
I feel bad for you and the dog. I wonder if the dog will have some behavioral issues later on. I do not understand the neighbors response, you'd think he'd be embarrassed. Poor baby

Bentley doesn't even like it if I yell something at DH from upstairs (not even arguing...just yelling so he can hear me). Bentley barks and barks.
 
I wrote to our apartment office just detailing the situation about the fighting and the dog crying. Apparently he didn't notify them whenever this dog arrived. So at least they will be looking around and making him cough up the huge pet deposit required where we live.

I would call animal control if I ever thought they were hitting or hurting the dog.
