Saying Hi from Colorado!

Hi new here though I've lurked for quite a while. :)

I got one boy at the moment who I've had since November 3rd and he just turned 6 months old yesterday! Sadly he has no name so maybe I can get help with that. It's gone from being Edgar to Fenris to Tenshi to Artemis to Artikis...yeah my head hurts from trying to figure his name out!

But I'm glad to be here with my little boy! I think of him as my gift from God and every time I look at him I am reminded of how much God loves me to have given me this boy. He's also probably the quietest sheltie in the world. He may bark like once a week. He tends to bark if he was asleep and was awoke suddenly like at a noise or a doorbell and I can get him to bark with a game but other than that he's quiet as a mouse! He's also super smart and is soooo mellow and sweet. He's absolutely a dream! His favorite things to do is eat snow and ice cubes (though not sure if the later is a good idea), going on super long walks and he LOVES to play fetch with me. He'll go all day long if I let him, so I'd say he's mellow but also very playful. He also loves to use his nose and sniffing for everything and he doesn't really lick. So strange having a dog that doesn't lick you but say once a month by accident! Though he has been doing it a few times lately, its still so very rare of him and he gives Eskimo kisses instead.

His favorite thing is snow and eating lots of it! And being outside, he loves the outdoors!

He is precious! Count your blessings that he does not bark! The sheltie I have now is my biggest barker and believe me, it can get annoying. I don't mind barking when the doorbell or phone rings, that is helpful, but barking at every thing that passes the house (the paint is totally off my windowsills) or until she is fed (I keep saying that barking does NOT make me get the food any faster) or at the vacuum, hose, broom, rake, etc. etc. does get on my nerves.
I know you will enjoy your boy...and yes, you need to settle on a name, although when we adopted my girl at 2 years old she had a name that we did not like and we changed it to something that sounded similar but was prettier and she learned her new name immediately.

Welcome

Hi and Welcome!!Love the picture of your puppy.I love blues.I have one blue and a sable boy.Your boy will bring you lots of joy!!

Welcome. If you've been lurking for a while you'll already know this is a great forum. You say that your boy is a gift from God - in ancient Greek 'Doron Theou' meant Gift from God, so maybe Theou (from God) could suit him. He is a beauty.

I like that!

What a cutie! Sounds like mine, a gentle soul. I've heard they sometimes start barking more later in life even if they're not barkers as a pup, esp if you have two dogs. Beware the bark bark.

That's a good idea for his name. You will need to settle on something to call him, though you can just make up and add "middle" names. That's the good thing about pets. heh. Here are some other names that mean Gift [from God] if any of them appeal:

Jonathan (and forms like Evan and Ivan and Ian or Owen or Sean, etc)
Zane
Zeb
Nat/Nathaniel
Theou could also be Theo or Teddy or Derek/Dirk
Mikko
Mishka
Micheal or Matthew, which I wouldn't think of as a dog name, but you could use Micky or Matz
Hans
Hansel
Donatello

Or names that mean "a blessing":
Boone
Benedict

Or I like Gray or Grayson because of his pretty coat.

Welcome to the forums!

Your little guy is so cute. Sounds like the perfect sheltie too. I hope that my boy (once I get him in May) will be as much of a dream is yours. But, we never know which dog we'll get. It's up to God and the dog itself to choose us.

Out of all of those, I do love the name Artemis. A few other names from my blue merle name stash are: Porter(means "gate keeper" in scottish), Gizmo, Bryce (which means "speckled" in scottish), and Striker. I guess neither of those are as good as your choices though haha. Dogs, and all other furry creatures for that matter, are miracles from God. There's been so many times where I've thought back on my previous dog with feeling blessed.

Nice to meet you!

Oh wow thanks for the awesome welcome everyone! And thanks so much for the name help, I do love all the names everyone shared. I'm just waiting for that one name to "stick"...hopefully soon! I wish I could reply to each and every one of you, but my guy gets mopey if I am at the computer too long lolz!

I shall keep everyone updated when I settle on a name! :wink2:
