Ugh! I just moved to Fayetteville in September and I already know all the vets/workers at the office... good news is vet is across the street from me... LOL

OMG, though! He's doing sooooo good. For the first time since I've had him he hasn't itched... the vet also did a thyroid test to check that since he drinks so much and his hair is thin.

Someone had asked if the vet knew how it got that way and the vet told me it's due to a life of neglect and bad nutrition and just being ignored. :(

I'm going to take a picture of him since he's looking so good! LOL
 
Oh that face breaks my heart. He looks like such a sweety. How anyone could neglect him is beyond my comprehension.

He looks really good to me. His coat is coming in nice. I can't really tell about weight. I am not good with telling a shelties weight without putting my hands on the dog. I try to have just a layer over the ribs, where I can still feel the ribs without pushing in, but they are not sticking out at all. With my girls I also watch their hip bones. I like to make sure that I can feel their hip bones, but they are not protruding too much. Sometimes I will feel their ribs and think that they are OK weight wise, but then their hips are really sticking out and I need to increase their food a bit.

I am not a vet, so any advice I can give is trumped by that of your vet. My experience with our dogs is that a few itches is quite normal and often due to dry inside air during the winter months. You obviously have a problem well beyond that. We also use "VIBRANT PETS" supplement with their food and that both prevents and cures a lot of both real and potential isssues - including skin problems. Sorry no one one has answered this yet, Terri. I don't give any supplements so I can't answer it, but I have read/heard good things about vibrant pets from people I'd trust on this board so I'm sure they are good!
