Shaving dilemma!!

When I cut him since, then the children were told they had to tell him how fine he was, and he was so happy.

And being a groomer, I get a lot owners who come in and swear up and down that their dogs aren't matted. Sure, they've brushed the top coat, but not down to the skin. Unfortunately those dogs have to be clippered short. It may have been worse than what you thought. Hard to say unless the dog is on my table. But the groomer should have talked to you about it before taking all her hair off. And he should have taken the time to show you why he had to.

Also, as we all know, shelties are very intelligent doggies and Pippa seems slightly shaken by this. Shes been going about embarassed with her tail tucked in under her bare bum and she's been awfully twitchy, not at all like her old playful self. She's always had a fear of brushes, however now this is going to be so much worse, and the guy also gave her a bath, so she's going to be terrified of water too. She'll probably be frightened of anything that sounds like shears as well. I'm worried that this might have affected her mentally too. :(

One last thing, it's kind of cold here in Scotland at the moment, so the idiot groomer should have realised that she needs her undercoat desperately at this time. Her hair is about half an inch long now, so she'll need a good jacket. Does anybody know any good brands of jackets that are really fleecy and waterproof?

Any help help would be appreciated so much!

I was told by my groomer to never actually shave a sheltie as their hair may not grow back properly. the way you described it, about an inch was left so I think you are fine. We did this on purpose to my sheltie a year ago and it was a good thing because of how messy his coat had gotten from my having two babies and not keeping up with his brushing. I didn't like doing it but it was best for his case. However if someone did that without asking you should not ever take your dog back to them. He should have called and asked. And if your dog had a bad experience I would not take her or him back.

Selective translation :lol: Some breeds get Americanized/English language names and some don't. Worse when it's breeds like the Pyeranean Shepherd who the AKC calls that but the breed association uses both Pyr Shep and Berger des Pyenee (not going to even try to put accents in.)

 
Help!! Groomer shaved my Sheltie

Hey everyone.
I signed up because I need help.I am devastated. We had to try a new groomer in town and I advised him that my 6 year old Sheltie is currently batteling a skin condition where he has sores on the top of his skin. He is reacting well to the medication that the vet has him on but suggested to get him trimmed and bathed as it will help his sores heal.
I dropped my Sheltie off and advised the groomer that he does not need a brush (since this would only open his sores) so he just needed to trim his paws and butt. This is all if requested. 3 hours later I go and pick him up and my Sheltie is completely shaved!! I bawled my eyes out. What groomer would do this to a Sheltie!? He has about an inch of hair all around. He groomer left his head hair long and tail but everything else is about an Imch. I am devastated.

How long will his hair grow back to his long length? If at all?
Seems the hair isn't bothering him but he looks goofy. Like when he was a puppy.

Please tell me if will grow back.....

There was a miscommunication on his part because of my dogs sores we just wanted a bath, but the groomer seen some matting and decided to shave him because of it.
Thank you for letting me see that his hair has grown back. I feel much better knowing that.
