Does sheltie's hair give negative effective to pregnant women? What about for someone who has asthma?

No. It is OK to be around pregnant women. I have no problem with her hair and allergies. I am finding my sheltie sheds a lot less than my Aussies did or my shepherd does. Keeping the dog well-brushed and bathed from time to time as you decide fits you best will also help.

Both of my daughters were asthmatic as children, more particularly my youngest was the worst. Neither of them had issues with our Sheltie. I would guess that its like any other malady that afflicts us. Some will have issues, some won't. But with all of the people in my circle of family and friends that frequented our house with our dog, no one complained of reactive problems

My sister is fairly sensitive to pet hair and has breathing issues - she never had a problem with our shelties.

Being pregnant is a natural thing and not a disease - if you were fine with dogs before the pregnancy then that should continue.

I've found that people with pet allergies have a bigger problem with short haired dogs because the dander rises up so close to the end of hair follicules.

I don't think its the hair itself that causes allergies, but the skin attached to the hair.

So regular brushing to remove loose fur should do the trick.
