Sheltie Lamp

I have my self a live sheltie lamp. I had Sting neutered yesterday and he has to wear a cone and now he looks like a lamp when he sits.I know he has to be misreable with it on but I can't stop laughing at him bumping into things.

LOL! I thought you really found a cute sheltie lamp.

Soooo funny! You have got to get us pictures of his lamp pose :wink2:

Yeah, they can be pretty funny with that cone on. My boy had to wear one after he was neutered for about a month, because he kept chewing on himself. He liked to fetch and couldn't pick up his toy from the floor with his cone on, so he learned to catch it by sticking his head up at the right time and letting it fall into the cone. He was pretty funny! Sounds like Sting is a kick too.

I thought the same thing! I was so excited, I thought you'd found another neat Sheltie trinket I had to have! Too funny!

I was lucky with Indy and Bacca when they were done a couple of weeks ago - neither really went for their stiches. Are you sure they are going at them, or is this just a precaution that the vet advised?

You might want to remove the collar while you can supervise and see what's really happening. I feel so awful for them when they have to wear it. I can't imagine what's going through their Sheltie brains.....Why would Mom do this to me?

Yes he is going for them Barb. I took it off and he starting biting at the stitches. Now, I am even laughing more because if he puts his head to the ground to eat something he looks like a sheltie vaccum cleaner. Before I did this unspeakable thing to him he had a reunion on Wed. with 5 of his 6 siblings. All but one of the pups went to performance homes. Sting amazed me because he was doing the A-frame (low height) and seesaw (also low) and the tire. Then Janice who owns Shelly came to see us and she watch me run Shadow.

That's funny Sharon. Glad sting did ok, bet he'll be glad when the e-collar comes off. They now sell a collar like humans wear for a neck injury, that stiff foam type collar.

for future references.

Ah, that's so much better than the cone! I remember by own forever pup, Timber, having to wear one. His water dish was constantly being spilt everywhere! It was far too pathetic. Saw a pup leaving the vet this week wearing one and I just wanted to cry!

I wish the vets would get up to snuff on what's out there and offer these kind of alternatives! When you need one, you need on right away, and you are forced to take what the vet offers.

Sharon  I got so thrilled you found a lamp for me too. Funny, I think everyone thought the same, and got excited. Well I was going to ask you where you found that lamp, I don't think your going to give Sting up.
