This is what I do, too. I take the thinning shears perpendicular to the ground facing up and put them in the pants (from the bottom) then put them close to the skin and snip. I brush that out, then do it again.

That's what I do too. Toby had really unruly pants this year and doesn't like them brushed so I thinned them first. It made all the difference.
I've had trouble with Sadie's pants this year, I think because of a bad trim by a groomer. The only way I can describe it is they look like saddle bags hanging off of her legs. I've done the best I can to make them look natural but can never quite get it right. My trainer is also a groomer (which I realized after the bad groom
) and deals with show dogs so I'm going to have her help me out with the saddle bags and also see if she can teach me a few other techniques.

I think I know what I have to do. As someone commented, his pants are so thick I can't even brush it.
And yes, the problem was compounded by a groomer who shaved both their butts. I was horrified.
Never again.
So time to get out my lazy susan grooming table and get at it!

I understand that, I did Brie 4 days ago and still haven't managed to get to Mikos yet! I think I am just procrastinating sticking 'Mr. Wiggles' onto the grooming table!

As weird as it sounds, my favorite product right now is actually Pink! My breeder recommended it to me because it's how she keeps her black dogs so black and coats looking great. Pink is an ethnic hair product that you can get anywhere like Walmart, Target or Sally's Beauty. When I got Lilly ((a black tri)) from the cobreeder, she'd been a kennel dog for a bit and had a lot of sunburnt coat. I've been using Pink and it is getting much softer and healthier looking! I dilute the product with water and have it in a spray bottle and spritz her at least every other day with it, making sure to work it through the coat. :3 It's not a miracle cure for the sunburnt red color yet, but her coat doesn't FEEL so damaged anymore.

These are pics of Daisy's "pants"...I would like for them to grow out to look like a normal sheltie's....I cannnot find a groomer in the area, let alone one who does shelties....I may buy the books and buy the tools and start learning to do it myself. She's a pet, and is very forgiving!
