Hi everybody, I have been looking for a sheltie to help after my boy left me almost two months ago, I finally found a puppy mill resuce on petfinder.com. there are quite a few pure bred shelties on the site and I wish I were able to adopt them all. if you are looking for a friend again, please, please help the ones from the sheltie rescue in your area if possible.
I am going to have the puppy shipped to me from Salt Lake City to Vancouver, it would be another couple of hundred for shipping fee, but i will be helping this poor little guy. Although my initial intention is to get one from his old breeder just in case he wants to come back home to be my dog again, I think he would like me to help a homeless sheltie also... maybe i would purchase one from his old breeder later when i have more income....

Best of luck to you and god bless! It's a tough thing you are taking on - taking on a pup unseen!

If you run into difficulty, there are a few "rescuers" on the site that you can go to for advice.

When I was looking for a Sheltie after Timber died last spring, I looked for Sheltie rescue's in my area. There were none. I did not think of going outside my immediate area as I did want to meet the pup first. You are very brave!

I was trying to look for one locally also, but there aren't any, so i had to look out of the area, there aren't that many breeders in our area neither. Anyway, I believe that there are no bad dogs, only bad humans, anyhow by adopting a rescue sheltie, I will be providing a home for a that poor little guy. he would have a home and doting mother :) i so wish i have more space and more energy to help more shelties in need

I'm with you, Danna ... I'd save them all if I could. Take heart ... Foxman came to us the same way and he is a real treasure. He *is* a little adventurous with the chewing though and of course he has the fastest tongue in the west. You couldnt ask for a better furfriend though.

Good Luck with your new little buddy Dana! Let us know when he arrives and keep us posted on how he is doing. It is a great thing that you are doing for this little guy! :wink2:

God Bless you Dana!

You are a chosen Rescue Angel ! You will be blessed many times over for what you have chosen to do. They do know when you have rescued them and helped give them a forever home. Please keep us informed as to when the dear arrives and Pictures sure would be appreciated. Thanks again and we are all here to help in any way we can.:wink2:

Thank you!

thank you very much for all your support, i m still in the process, don't know when i will get him, he is only 9 weeks old, there maybe issues crossing the border with rabies shot and i m not sure if nurturing can be performed before 6 months old?? but i m sure the shelter people will find that out for me, those are supposed to be included in the adoption fees. dont have a current passport to drive down to pick him up myself! :( that would take a few months to renew! i may as well sit tight and wait for him to be flown up, a long road trip with a puppy that age may not be a good idea afterall!

Will definitely post his pics when i get him! and u sure will be asked for advice also! i have not dealt with a puppy for 15 yrs, i am sure i m rusty in that department!

Try a great book: The Art of Raising a Puppy by the Monks of New Skete. You can get it on Amazon. We swear by it here at Nattering Springs -- everybody says they've never seen such calm, well-behaved Shelties!

Good for you Danna! When I was looking for a sheltie when my last one passed, I looked at rescues too. I wanted a younger one though, as I just could not go through loosing another one too soon. I could not find one anywhere near here. I found some in the US, but those shelters would not ship to Canada. One day though, I would love to adopt a rescue, something in my heart is telling me to next time. Please keep us infromed as to the arrival! And of course, pictures, lots of pictures of the lucky little one. God bless you.
