I've made it very clear to my lot that Ailsa's ashes have to go with me when I go and we will go on to that great big play park in the sky together, I'm not sure what will happen with Arran and Abby and any other shelties I might have in the future. I might need to leave instructions to buy a bigger box for me to go in .

Thanks Terri ! I know I want Jewel with me as far as other Shelties I will take that as time comes. My mixed Breed that is now 12 years, Tasha When she departs for the Bridge will also go with me. We might need bigger caskets , OH MY !!:eek2::lol:

I have Teeka's ahse's and picture on my night stand and when the time comes Dreamer, Sprint and Thunder will join him (but they will have to move to the dresser) and when my time comes we will all meet again for our next journey in the sky Together:sadsmile:

ashes

We had our Sheltie cremated and purchased a cedar burial urn. We then had a small ceremony in our backyard and buried her in her favourite place, my daughter's garden. She was always playing in the garden! I'm sure our neighbours thought we were crazy out there during her burial, but it was extremely sad and difficult for our whole family.

If we ever move from this house, she will be coming with us!

Thanks Sheltt and Lynda

I know there are people out there that think we are nuts caring about our Dogs and other pets as we do but How can you help it.:smile2: I am greatful and privaledged to have had Jewel with me for those 10 short years and I miss her dearly every day. As I'm sure you all do as well. Let the neighbors think what they want if they had a precious Sheltie it would change their mind.

Planing Ahead

We have a glen in our back yard that is the pet cemetery. We haven't lost a Sheltie yet, but Roo the Chinchilla is buried there. It's nice to know that when that sad time comes, our girls will be where we can see their resting places and remember when they romped under the trees. Some people may say that's grim, to plan ahead like that. Having been a Hospice nurse, I can say that plans really help when the time comes. Then you don't wind up doing something on impulse or under pressure - you've made you decisions with a cool head. Works for people, too. :wink2:

Thanks Chris for sharing !

I don't think it's grim, to plan ahead . We all must go sometime but it doesn't mean we have to like it. Being a hospice nurse must be tough. But you are helping them in their transition and accepting phases. You have a very interesting and difficult job. I know in medicine they tell you not to bond with your patiets, just to empathise. But there are cases I know through experience that are difficult to not form that bond.
I chose to keep the ashes because I want them buried with me. I don't own my own home, I rent one but treat it as if it was mine. Sorry Chris, I'm rambling again!!:eek2:

Always with us

I had Lady cremated and am waiting on her to come back to me so she will always be with us always. I had never thought about her ashes being with me when I pass over but thats how I voted and I will make a note of it with my kids. Thanks for all the kind words yesterday, they really helped.

AlphaBlueMerle

Thanks for sharing and you are welcome . Thats what is great about this forum we all try to help out each other in times of need. When you get Ladys' ashes back take the time to hold her and allow yourself to mourn. I have my Bluemerle, Jewel on my curio in my bedroom along with her picture. When I get blue I just go and hug her picture and remember the great times we had. It gets easier with time. Then you get to talk about all the good remembrances without tears flowing so easily. If you need to vent just go to one of the forum sites and post you will get answers.
