Should have called him Houdini

LoL, amazing...

We don't have soft crates, but Bailey does have a hard plastic crate... One night, we heard some rustling around upstairs where the dogs sleep, but just figured one of the boys were having a chasing dream or something along those lines. Later that evening, I woke up to go to the bathroom, and luckily looked down as I made my way to the the bathroom because i saw a little white and gray fluffy puppy sleeping at the base of our bed... He some how figured out how to get our of his hard plastic crate... I still have no clue how he did it, because I clearly remember closing his crate and checking it before I went to sleep....

These pups are amazing...

Wow. In comparison, Everett would be in the soft crate all night. If he is presented with a obstacle he just waits it out. we have left a pasture and closed the gate; something he could crawl under or squeeze through and it stops him. Amazing to see a small dog fenced in a horse pasture.

Lol, sounds like Merlin is definitely a sheltie then! He hasn't tried the stunt since, but that may be I conceded defeat and let him sleep on my feet in the evenings - I was only putting him in the crate because I thought he would be less disturbed and could sleep more peacefully:rolleyes2: He sleeps through the night in the crate though, no problem.

"Come back Cadbury, all is forgiven....."
Poor Cadbury. He just lays there looking forlorn and wondering why I didn't get a lab puppy. Oh but I remember Cadbury, I remember! Six months of puddles! A chewed telephone cable in the first day! Chasing the cat! Barking the house down when left! A destroyed wall and door frame! A broken floor tile in the kitchen due to someone slamming their bones into it! Holes in every sweater and cardigan I owned! Humiliation on walks! Humiliation at training! Getting yelled at by people! The car chasing incident in the park! The disappearing out the gate! Dragging me down the road until I dreaded walks! Learning how to open the stairgate! Stealing and destroying my socks and shoes! Running and jumping up at everybody! The time he grabbed hold of a baby's jumper and tugged causing the mum to shriek! The time we were helping out in our church and he wee'd up a pillar then pooped on the carpet!

No, I can safely say Merlin is perfect compared to Cadbury as a puppy!

...and Merlin takes notes down...

Okay, where is the post about the dog who opened up a wire crate by using it's teeth/tongue and paws to move the latch?

Granted, mine don't do this, but it seems zippers won't stop a Sheltie, that's for sure. I can't believe you actually thought he was safe in the zippered crate, Oh you will learn fast......just how smart this pup is. Granted, you may learn a little slower than him, so good luck. :rolleyes2:

That was MY Border Collie Jake, now there was an escape artist, he used to open doors with his Paws Too so you couldn't shut him out of a room. He was my frisbee dog Too

OMG that is SO FUNNY
This should be mandatory reading for all potential Lab owners... at least with Shelties we only have to contend with the terrible teenage years when they are not interested in being brilliant anymore.. and use it against you! lol
Thank goodness it is only a small phase.. except for Diva, Fluffy and Bailey... They seem to have a lifetime membership to the terrible teenage phase LOL

Shush! He didn't hear that!:uhoh:

Oh yes!!! Lab pups are nothing like grown labs! You see guide dogs and think, what a sweet tempered dog, they would be great with the kids! And then this pup arrives that is all teeth and devastation:rolleyes2:

You can always tell the lab owners. They usually have a list of injuries the length of your arm, dodgy shoulders from being pulled, mud-marks on their clothes from being jumped up at and yet they are always smiling:smile2:

We regularly run a competition on my lab forum about who has suffered the worst accidental injury from their dog. My entry is when I nearly broke my hand when Cadbury pulled me over and of course there are many, many agility/Cadbury related injuries:lol:

S.U.B.U. Contract

MMM Here....

Merlin,

Since you are now 10 weeks old, you will be receiving your S.U.B.U. Contract via DHL International Carrier. I sent it out to you yesterday. Cadbury is an Adjunct Teamster, but you will receive all benefits.

However, it has come to our attention that though your management has been very aware of our agenda, she has not completely embraced our unique Sheltiness. She has already admitted that she did not believe all these years of her participation on this forum, the we, S.U.B.U. Teamsters, were as intelligent as we claimed and NOW, deriving from this post, she does not fully understand that a different set of rules apply to us.

Merlin, it is your responsibility to set this management of yours straight. Demand your rights!

Respectfully,

R.R. William J. McKinley, Jr.
S.U.B.U. Teamster

Thanks for reminding me why I don't have another Lab and the rest of my family does/

Sheltie Pups are remarkable perfect when compared to a naughty Lab puppy. I remember Justice as the perfect puppy. I'm sure he wasn't just seemed that way compared to Jo.:smile2:
