Tofu Pup is right! It is Mainely Mulch. You can buy it at a garden center or True Value. It comes in squeezed down plastic bales. I love it. It absorbs the water in the muddy areas, and the dogs dance on top, staying clean. In the spring, it is basically decomposed. I never rake it up. I just add grass seed to it, and it comes back fine. I should add, when I add grass seed, I fence off the area with 24" high rabbit fencing. Here is the info on the product:
