Sophie's Mom Saying Hello!

Hello, All!

I'm new to the Sheltie Forum, so first order of business is to say Hi.

As the subject line says, I'm Sophie's mom, and her dad and I live in CT. She's a white/tan/blue merle, almost 7 months old, and has been part of our family since mid-October.

She's precious, and a great addition to our family. However, we are first-time dog owners, so I hope to meet great people here, and pick up some good advice for raising her well and keeping her healthy and happy!

Hi, Welcome to the forum. You'll get lots of great info here! Love to see pictures, especially of PUPPIES!!!

Welcome!

We're first-time dog owners too (brought our puppy home August 1st), and I cannot praise this forum enough. You will find a wealth of information here, and a large group of really caring, supportive people, who understand the ups and downs and ins and outs of owning a Sheltie.

I have to echo the other cries for "Pix please!" You can post a link to a photo sharing site (like Photobucket), and if you become a Premium member, then you can attach pictures directly to your forum posts.

Welcome to the forum from Mississippi :) I hope you find lots and lots of information on your pup and feel free to ask anything! There are lots of great people here! Also, like everyone else, pics! Pics! Pics! We love pics!

A very warm welcome to you, your husband and Sophie! Shelties can be trying at times and VERY sensitive (hence the need for positive reinforcement for training). This forum has excellent info and you'll get instant responses to all your questions. In addition, I highly recommend visiting the American Shetland Sheepdog Association website. You'll find a wealth of info there. Shelties are usually very smart, which means they get bored easily so I encourage getting Sophie into obedience and agility. We have three and two of them are enrolled in agility classes. Our third is a rescue we adopted last year and a bit unpredictable so we're consulting with a trainer on the best way to get him socialized/trained.

You can see ours in my album "Sheltie Trio" under the community link on this site. Good luck with your little gal.
