Sparta turned 1 year old on friday (oops, sorry!) and even though we're away from home to dogsit my gran's poodle, there had to be cake!

We went to our first show about a month back, and did pretty okay (judge was strict on size, so no fancy ribbons - but the critique was otherwise very promising). Overall she has grown into a very fine, gentle girl who I'm very proud of and very happy to have in my life.

Looking back, I can't help but get a little schmoopy and personal over everything the past year has brought us. These 10 months have been beyond any expectation. When I got Sparta in July, I had just finished school, I was trying to put together something that could pass for an adult life, and hopefully leaving the hardest and darkest period of my life behind. To be bluntly honest, these past few years have been awful, and I've been in very dark places over very long periods of time. While I won't say that Sparta has "cured" me (and I certainly didn't expect her to), I can't help but see the differences she has brought to my life, and ultimately to me as a person. All I can say is that after getting Sparta, the world has seemed a little brighter than before I got her.

The Norwegian Constitution day also came and went recently, and of course we celebrated that with more pictures! (of a very happy pup, almost completely out of coat!)

Happy first birthday, beautiful Sparta!

All your pictures are always so stunning! So happy that this little girl has brought you out of your hole and into the light. These fur babies are so amazing. To many more happy years together! :hugs

Happy first Birthday, sweet little Sparta. You are indeed lucky to be spending your life with this beautiful, beautiful little soul. Although it may not be her "job" to save you, I think she did just that, it sounds like you are in a much calmer, happier place. :smile2: :hugs

First big congratulations to you Sparta, what a nice birthday cake your mom has made. You are such a beautiful girl.

Your mom is so good at taking pictures of you, and the sweet Norwegian loop fits so well with you, on the big day

I do not know, what is with these Shelties, they are so lovable and goes straight into the heart, gives so much to us, and if we understand to receive this unconditionally - well, then our lives will seem brighter, just because you did not expect something so you been responsive (I think)

Happy Birthday Sparta! Thanks for making such a positive impact in your humans life! These bundles of fluff are without a doubt the best medicine for a multitude of ailments!

I just love the images of Sparta! Such a stunning environment and looks like heaven. You are a stronger person than myself. I could not do confirmation showing... I went down the obedience route! If my shelties performed each exercise properly they got rewarded. Confirmation was too subjective for me!

In coat or out Sparta is one beautiful sheltie!!! I have always wanted a tri!

Happy Birthday to your beautiful little lass. Shelties do bring light into our lives...we are so blessed to have these gentle souls.
