Squeaky Toys

What is your sheltie's stance on Squeaky Toys?

I have a friend who has a sheltie that will drop a squeaky toy like he is hurting it as soon as the squeaky toys.

Annabelle on the other hand LOVES to squeak her toys. And not just once. She finds the squeaker and will honk it repeatedly as fast as she can for a few minutes at a time. When she finally drops it, she will look at you and just smile.

I had a 95 pound Aussie terrified of squeaky toys. I had to remove all the squeakers from the other dog's toys. However, now, we have squeaky toys but I kind of find them annoying.

Oberon adores squeaky toys. He especially loves his cow and sheep that make "real" cow and sheep sounds. It's kind of hard for Lee and I to get used to, because we could never give Mercutio squeaky toys because he used to rip them apart until he found the squeaker and then run around with that. We were always afraid he'd choke on it, so we stopped giving them to him.

Honey doesn't seem scared of squeaky toys, but she doesn't seem to quite get the concept of them either. She'll squeak them occasionally by accident, but usually she doesn't bite down on anything hard enough to cause it to make the noise.

She loves electronic toys that make noise though. My mom had one that made a boing noise and she spent an hour dropping it around the house, and a brick that makes noise when you nudge it and flip it over, she goes crazy for it. I found a toy that speaks with just a small bit of pressure applied and she loves to play fetch with it and always has to make it do so before she'll drop it for me to throw.

Enzo and Lexi both squeeze and rearrange the toy in their mouth in order to find the ultimate squeaky spot--and they then squeak incessantly :lol:

squeaky toys are a hit at my house

I have sprongs that squeak and those are a hit-different shapes and sizes, I like those because the covering absorbs the spittle unlike a smooth plastic squeaky toy...

the fish pole gizmo that has a squeaky toy on the end is a fav...both love to pounce on them to get them to squeak...

Savannah likes rapid fire squeaking so she chomps quickly which makes Kaleigh chase her...her furry crocodile and rat are the best for this...Annabelle and Savannah are kindred squeakers!!!

small balls that squeak are for special occasions as the girls like to hide those and they only retrieve them at special times, they magically appear and disappear

Needless to say, if it has a squeak, my girls LIKE it...they also have various small beanie babies that they like to play with, and they don't understand why those don't squeak, they keep trying to MAKE them SQUEAK...which is too cute to watch..savannah likes to roll on them, and she grunts, like WHY won't you squeak! Those are the parts of puppyhood I have cherished.

Sansa likes when I squeak the toy for her, but I don't think she knows how to do it herself! The only time she squeaks a toy is when she steps on it.

I have a plush, squeaky toy squirrel that I bought for my Black Lab 9 or 10 years ago . . . she has been gone for 7 years. I have washed it, sewn it up and my dogs (including fosters) still prefer it over the other hundred toys in my house :confused2:
