Starting Obedience Tonight

HELP!

Murphy here. My mom sez we're starting obedience class tonight because I'm not a very good listener. We have to go every Tuesday night for EIGHT weeks!

She doesn't understand that I have very important jobs to do, and sometimes running down the sidewalk to say hello to the pug down the street is more important than coming inside. I'm SMART! I can sit, lay down, shake, speak, and even roll over. (But only when there is a good treat involved!) I also keep the catz safe by herding them into the basement whenever I think they are in danger. Mom sez this class doesn't give treats--that I will learn to listen and obey without treats. WHAT????

This is too much. She even brushed my pants so I look handsome. I can't believe this is happening to me.

HI Murphy-

Ember and Diva here. We thinks we would strike if our momz trained us without treats. :( We even get treats now and we are smart shelties with alots of titles. It is not the treats it is how you use them.

We say prout and put on your sadest sheltie face and have your mom take you to a school that is fun.

Basic Training is very important for every Sheltie. Be proud and strong -- you are a big boy.

Colonel Underpants

Murphy here. I survived my first obedience class. I did really good, except I got in a little bit of trubble for giving the sheltie stink eye to a really annoying pit bull puppy. I HAD to let him know that I'm smarter and scarier than he is! The teacher said I need to have good manners though. I was careful not to let the teacher see me show him my scary teeth, but she caught me anyway. She's almost as smart as me! I'm learning to do something they call heel (I thought it was called walking!) and then to sit down when my mom stops walking. I don't understand why she keeps stopping! We have places to go and things to sniff! Well, I suppose I'll go along with it since it seems to make my mom really happy, but I still don't understand what's the big deal...I guess if Colonel Underpants says it's important, I'll give it my best shot.

Maybe someday I can be a colonel too.

Cheers,
Murph
