Hey everyone,
My 5 year old Sheltie has been diagnosed with Sterile Pyogranuloma Syndrome after having multiple scab wounds appear on his back. It all started when he went to get the Bordetella shot as we were going to have to kennel him as we were going away. It seems since that moment, all this went down hill. The biopsy technician definetly stated that it was not due to any allergic reaction to the vaccine but that this skin condition would have came up down the road anyways. I have grown up with multiple Shelties and this is the first one that is having a rough time with health. His scabs do not itch nor do they even bother him. We only noticed them one day when we were brushing him. I have researched online and have not found much detail of this disease and was wondering if anyone else has had this.
Currently he is on Atopica medications one pill a day and he is on day 8. They seem to be clearing his skin, but I just don't know why this would have happened.
Any insight would be great. Because of this skin condition when we took him to the groomer the groomer decided without our permission to shave him to about an inch of hair to help the sores heal and breath properly. Fair enough, but it will take months to have his hair grow back which was devastating when we went to pick him up.
So if anyone could offer any insight about skin conditions that would be great.
