Still waiting for a puppy

Looking for a sheltie puppy

I say this with caution...

I purchased a wonderful male sheltie from this website and found an absolutely wonderful breeder and now friend. She has been responsive in answering any questions I had on my sheltie. We have stayed friends for three years now.

Normally web purchase of puppies is dangerous...potential of puppy mill puppies. However, if you do you homework and research the breeders you might get very lucky like I did.

Thanks Dawn. Dawn has been my support throughout this whole process.

I'm going to wait and see what happens with this litter. If there is no puppy for me from it I will ask the breeder if he can help me find a puppy. He is very well connected and well known so I hope he has some friends that may have a baby for us.

I'm really hoping that the third time will be the winner though.
 
That is a good idea -- Judy -- the breeder wants you to have a pup since it has been a long time coming and he may be able to refer you right to someone if he doesn't have what you are looking for.
 
I found a breeder who had a puppy and I gave her a detailed description of our home and how the pup would be cared for, but I never heard from the breeder again (our house was "built" for pups/dogs--it has had mostly terriers grow up in it and every precaution for keeping a dog safe has been taken care of). I'm sure they had their reasons--maybe because I had never had a sheltie before?

It all turned out OK because I really wanted a tri and this one wasn't--I am absolutely in love with our little Pippa and had I gotten the first pup, Pippa would not have come into our lives. There is a plan for you--maybe your perfect pup has not been born yet.
 
Linda you said it so perfectly and then to with us we really want an 8 week old but with a breeder you have to wait till 12 weeks unless there it is a pretty sure thing it won't be a show puppy- testicles don't drop, to big, to small etc.

It is heart breaking.
 
Judy, I will cross my fingers that there is something for you in this litter--or that the breeder can help you. I've found that breeders are willing to make suggestions based on their relationships if you've been waiting a while.

I know I've mentioned this before, but I know exactly how you feel! Just for curiosity's sake, I looked up when I first asked to be placed on a breeder's list...it was September 2013!

For me, I believe the search is coming to a close, but it has not been easy waiting.

Thank you! I sent an email off to the breeder today asking if he might be willing to help me locate a puppy from another breeder if this does not work out. I'll post his response when I do here back.
 
I should know sometime in the next week about if the prospective dam is pregnant. I did get an email back from the breeder tonight and if there is not a litter or there is not a puppy for us from it he will help us find a puppy from someone else. I think the right puppy for us will come along soon now.
