Suzi has surgery thursday

Oh my! I've never known of a dog with a pacemaker! Can you tell us the story?
 
I would love to hear about what lead to Rose needing a pacemaker as well. Sending prayers for your precious girl to recover quickly once through this surgery.

at the beginning of the year, Suzi was not doing well, feeling well. so off to the vet. she does have some health issues. Suzi does have a heart murmur and high blood pressure ( on medication) durn the exam, when vet listened to heart, it was slow, about 45 beats per minute. so we set up for a ecg at vet office. stress test. and when got results, tried medication. seemed ok, but then last month Suzi started acting unwell again. so vet did blood work and heart tests, even with medication, heart beat is low, not even half of what should be.
i did not know there are pacemakers for dogs, well not made for dogs, but are the same pacemaker people use. am told is a pretty simple ( yeah right, simple is not a word i would use) operation. will make a cut under chin and one on back of neck and put in the pacemaker and chip thing.
the vet told me this is more common then people realize, i personally do not know of a dog who has one, i wish i did....ask tons of questions.
i wish i could express myself better.
anyways, thank you for your concern and prayers for my Suzi
