Tangles behind ears

Have the same problem with Deska - Tully is always grabbing him behind the ears and he has such bad knots. I use the Plush Puppy OMG formula plus a small pair of scissors to slice through the knots (rather than cutting).

Someone else also recommended to me to talc powder behind the ears to help detangle - but that only seems to work with Tully. But I use it to dry out that area when they have been bathed

Apparently behind the ears is one of the few places dogs have sweat glands.

Baby oil works wonders when removing knots. I worked as an assistant trainer in a Saddlebred barn. Every fall when we'd bring new ones in to work, it'd be a chore to sit there and work the knots out of their manes and tails. The worst was one year when someone brought a broodmare in who had been turned out for a long time with her tail braided up. The braid had had pieces pulled out, and there were all sorts of knots in it. I think it took several hours to get out. Good old baby oil really helps to speed the work up getting the knots out.

I just use baby powder, and comb behind the ears about once a week. Moose and Luke always have knots, Harry never does.

Boy I could have used this advice with my last dog, Mollie. She always had such bad mats behind her ears. Most times I had to cut them out. Crazy on the other hand never gets them, I guess we are just lucky.

my older sheltie thats 14 used to get butt knots, and those were mighty painful to get get out, i think one time i got fed up with those knots that i jus decided to shave her whole rear, but it quickly grew back into knots again. She doesnt have very many knots anymore cause her 2nd coat isnt there anymore due to her age. man i need to bathe her

bandit always gets knots in his ears, only place where he gets them is behind the ears...he has one right now actually
