Taste of the Wild, Proplan and other dry kibble options

So we're still prepping for our pup. Hopefully we get to see her cute little face soon, but I'm concerned with finding the right food, as I'm sure everyone is.

I'd love to feed raw, I think it's the healthiest way to go. But I don't have the money or the confidence in myself to be able to balance out the nutrients.
(if anyone could give me good reading materiel on raw that'd be greatly appreciated!)

Now the breeder feeds her dogs proplan performance. She avoids feeding her dogs chicken so she specifically feeds Proplan salmon and rice 30/20 formula. But it's Purina, and I've never trusted Purina.

I've normally fed my dogs Taste of the Wild. I'm confident in its ingredients, it's had no recalls, it's easy on my wallet, and my past dogs did great on it.

I've also thought about Zignature and Earthborn, but they're very expensive, and I'm sure my fiance would not be happy with paying 70 bucks a month on dog food.

But finding the right nutrition is so important in keeping my puppy healthy and happy.

The choice of dog food for your pup is very personal (ask 20 people; get 20 different answers!) but the bottom line is it has to work for you and the puppy. TOTW is a great food, as is Earthborne. I'm not familiar with Zignature, and I wouldn't feed Purina although I know lots of breeders swear by it. My bottom line is ingredients: NO byproducts, wheat, corn, soy or junk. In that guideline, you can find many good foods that don't break the bank.

All my puppies (and dogs) eat Fromm. I love Fromm Puppy Gold for puppies, and I use the Adult and Senior versions too. It's not overly expensive, is a family company and has a great support staff for questions or concerns. I found TOTW puppy food too rich for puppy digestion, resulting in runs, but that could just be mine. I tried Earthborne and wasn't impressed. My dogs and my wallet like Fromm and most importantly, I trust it.

We also use Fromm. As Ann says, it's not terribly expensive, especially when you consider the fact that you feed a lot less per meal than you do of the cheaper foods so a same-size bag lasts longer, even if it costs more initially. The other thing I like about Fromm is that there's a variety of flavors so you can switch flavors without switching brands.

I have used Fromm and Earthborn and Zignature- we like them all and we switch between those and some other brands.
My first sheltie puppy came with Taste of the Wild all stages food but after the large recall in 2012, we swore off anything made by Diamond........

I have tried many always expensive brands to feed her, but always without grain, that was also ok, but Minnie's stomach was a little up and down

Tried Proplan for sensitive digestion it was better for her - But I was not completely satisfied with the content

I had read about Fromm here on SN - not so well known over here, but I managed to find Fromm Gold Adult as Ann had recommended.

This I think is Minnie's food in future, she seems not so panicky hungry and her stomach are really fine

Before she has always stood and stared at me exactly when it was her eating time.

Now it can take 1-1½ hour over eating time - before she make me aware " now it is really my eating time"

And there is much less to pick up (2 maybe 3 times a day)

We switched to Fromm when Bailey started having health issues and we never went back switching Annie to it when she came to live with us.

As someone said it's an individual choice but to date we've been good with the results
