Teething!

Judy, my little boy has the same problem. He's got 2 adult fangs and one baby one. Yay me! As if we needed more of those painful things in his mouth! His baby fang seems quite sturdy and doesn't look like it'll be falling off any time soon! I took him to the vet and asked if I should get it removed and he said that removal will require putting him under general anaesthetic and that in itself has its risks. He suggested that I wait till I neuter him (which will probably be soon coz he's 9 months now) and do it together - so he only goes under once, instead of twice!
 
Teething

I do agree that a general anaesthetic is not desirable at all, my littel girl is such a dainty miss, nothing of her! If I were having her speyed then like you I would opt for waiting til then, but I am going to do a bit of showing and here in UK females can't be neutered (don't know about boys though). I may breed from her later on, not sure.

I exect I will have to go down the vet route and get it removed though as it (said tooth) shows no sign of falling out. I suppose it must be a small op with not much risk attached hopefully? What a nuisance these things are ....

If you speak with your vet, do let us know what he/she says! I've been putting off neutering my dear boy because I might want to breed him, tho' not until I find out more about his parents (an uphill task since he was from a petstore and his parents are in Australia). So it just might come to a one off tooth extraction too!
 
I had the same thing happen with one of my guide dog trainees. his adult teeth came in and he still had both puppy canines. The vet suggested vigorus games of tug o war with a rope toy, or a bone to chew on. unfortunatly that didn't work so he had to have them removed. He was home that same day, and on a soft diet for 2 days.
