That rule about the ribs...

I blame climate change! It's so darn hot here every day and during the night that my two are having shorter walks and they're having to stay home more so get treat distractions and they've both stacked on the weight (although Deska was skinny anyway). So I'd like to blame climate change for the extremes of weather that's making our Shelties fat.

Of course I could just adjust their food....
Haha yes, climate change has been on my mind even more since I got Fox. I wonder how any Sheltie in the southern US tolerates the summer heat. However, my friend Rebecca's sheltie seems to do ok. She just isn't out in the heat of the day during summer.

Spitfire and Sca do fine they just run around less during the summer. Fetching is either late in the day or early for instance. Also on extreme days they stay inside. They would probably suffer more in the cold up north as they are used to southern heat :-)

the heat is ok for shelties so long as they are acclimated which they are when they grow up in the south. we practice agility year round outdoors- I'm the one who fades before they do................
they do love snow though..

If you do a forum search for heights and weights you will find a spreadsheet that contains many of our dogs. Might reassure you about sizes. Best way to check weight is to give them a bath. Amazing how a fat dog instantly becomes a wet skinny dog!
LOL, when Spirit is wet she looks like a rat. Super skinny under all that hair!!!!!!
