Bailey for the last couple days has had a little sore stomach, so he's been sleeping in the upstairs bathroom (just in case). He's been doing better and has been able to make it between potty breaks (3-4 hrs). Last night I put him into his bathroom, and went to sleep. My wife and I wake up around 5am, to the sound of Bailey barking. He does this every now and then when he's lonely, so we told him to be quiet from our bedroom down the hall. This usually doesn't work, but he usually will stop shortly after (I guess he's just checking if we're still there). He continues to bark, so I decide I should go up and check on him. As I get closer I hear splashing sounds coming from the bathroom!
I turn on the lights in the bathroom to see about 1/2" of water on the floor and Bailey splashing around! I jump over the doggy gate, and try to find the source of the water. I get to the toilet, and it's making a weird sound, so I reach behind it and shut off the valve (the sound stops). I quickly run and grab my shopvac, and vacuum up all the water on the ground.
I didn't know what was wrong with the toilet, or how it was leaking. I grabbed a wrench teflon tape hoping it was just a minor leaky gasket. I turned the water back on at the valve, and noticed the supply hose for the toilet was leaking, and there was some bite marks on the hose!
Bailey must have woken up in the middle of the night, got bored, and accidentally chewed a hole in the hose (Which I just recently replaced!). I guess we're lucky Bailey doesn't really like water, and started barking. If it was our Golden, we probably would have woken up the next morning, with water running down the stairs, and major water damage, with him just rolling around in the water with a big goofy grin on his face...
