The Pressure is on!

Sca is running in Chattanooga the weekend of the 25th. A lot of people are unable to attend so it is a truncated team. Well I got an email late yesterday one of our height dogs just went in season so she is out also.

So there is a total of 3 people and five dogs :eek2: We can get some help on loaders and someone to run Indy but that means 3 BC's, Reggie the King Charles Spaniel and Sca. Reggie is pretty steady but is also fairly new at it so Sca needs to be rock steady and behave as the backups are almost zero. If he can resist chasing his girlfriend Angel the BC he should get a ton of points as Reggie is the slowest of the bunch and still does I think 6-8 second range while the BCs are sub 5's all day.

So due to handler count I figure I will be running Sca every race he behaves in and if he goes off I might have to run Slick the BC.

Double handling - you'll be exhausted. Lots of points for Sca then.

I'd say we'll be thinking of you but we won't - we have Flyball Nationals 23-25 Feb.

Cool be sure to post up how y'all do

I figure he will get 25 points for every run that he does not cross over :biggrin2: He needs 350 for Flyball Dog Champion (FDCh) so it is possible so that is possible if he is good and 850 for the next level. While possible he would need to run just about every race both days (last time out we had two that got 850 exactly)

But to be honest if we can get to 500 I will be super happy.

Good luck, Sca, Make your sheep proud and stay on target when running. You can visit after the heat is finished.

Congrats, be good Sca.

Now how actually do you get flyball points?

In NAFA (not as sure on uFli since they don't run as much here)

You have multiple races during the day (usually 4 I think) and each race has 3-5 heat races depending on format which is set by the hosts.

Then in each heat if you complete the 4 dogs clean:
under 32 seconds >> 1 point
under 28 seconds >> 5 points
under 24 seconds >> 25 points

So with our fast team he should get 25 seconds pretty consistent if he doesn't cross over and hits all the jumps. The BCs run almost 100% perfect with the exception of Angel who might be good for a cross once or twice a weekend (but not always) and Reggie the King Charles does pretty well but on occasion will cheat a jump (requires he rerun and usually busts the time)

Of course there is also which team won each class that can get you ribbons or stuff but that does not change the points per dog.

The 3 BCs typically run 4.3-4.7 times and I think Reggie is 6.0-8.0 but cannot remember for sure. Sca's best is 5.5 but he was running mostly around 6.0 last time out. I think if I improve on his launch and he keeps getting faster that we can be under 5.5 most of the weekend. My hope is he gets into the 4's (reasonable since he is so long legged and large) but this coming weekend I would be thrilled with clean runs in the 5's.

So you can see two BCs is 9 seconds plus Reggie at 8 means that Sca only has to stay under 7 to get us 25 points and that is minimum height due to Reggie. With all BCs we go up 2 or 3 inches but they are 2-4 seconds faster than Reggie. And those are guessing high on Reggie.

Sca, you will compete in Chattanooga. There was a big battle there. You are a Flyball Warrior, and you will triumph.
