Think we have a big boy!

I know a lot of you are experienced breeders or have kept so many shelties before that you may know the answer to my question. Hugo is almost 12 weeks old, is 5 kilos and 12 inches at the shoulders. He was the biggest by far in his litter too. I expect he will be a larger than average sheltie, but just out of curiosity, is anyone able to provide a good estimate of his adult height based on what he is now?
 
That was just about Dickens's height and weight at 12 weeks; he's six months now and measures 17 inches and around 27 pounds. But I think it's impossible to say just how big your pup will get, since lots of factors go into it. But if he reaches his potential, he could get quite large indeed.

Blimey! Darla should enjoy being biggest pooch whilst she still can :lol:
 
I would say about 17-17.5". Alot of factors go into it but that would be my guess. Of course, he could slow down and stay insize too.

Birch was riding the top line all the way up to 6 months and then went over by 7 months and then flatten out and never grew after 9-10months, he dropped at one point around 13-14months and was almost insize then went back up to where he was at 10 months about 16 3/4". His brther Leo was below the whole time and then steadily went up and stopped about the same size as Birch.

Ember was supposed to be around 14.5 to 15 in but she never grew a faction of an inch after 6 months. SO you never know.:smile2:
 
my puppy is 10 weeks today, when we measured him Tuesday.. 11.5 inches tall. I'm hoping he didn't hit the 12 inches this week, but will measure when I get home. He only weighs 10 lbs though.
 
The ideal size at 10 weeks of age is 9 1/4" to 9 1/2".

Here is a clue to predicting adult height:

At 13 weeks, add 4 1/2"
At 17 1/2 weeks add 3"
At 21 1/2 weeks add 2"

Thanks for posting that I was just going to ask you what the weeks were!! LOL!!! Another physic moment!:lol:
